My husband put this on for 5 min. In that 5 min, Stev Guttenberg (love him) gave the guy from 90210 (the original), a girl with half a shirt and 2 teens a vintage car, Tara Reid was mad about something, the Hoff was wondering why he's wearing a shirt in a movie about ocean dwelling lifeforms and, my personal favorite, the 90210 guy picked up what looked to be a 400lb shark by the tail and exploded him on a tree trunk or power pole. Either way, just the sheer level of stupid they fit in 5 minutes this movie deserves 3 stars. The other star is because Steve Gutenberg. I don't know what else happened because I just couldn't watch anymore.

I made the mistake of going to see this at 9 at night. As a stay at home mom with a toddler and a preschooler, this was not my best decision, but hey, margaritas were involved. Anyway, the movie was excellent but for a few mehs in my opinion.

First the pros, it was nice to see a strong female lead who was able to take care of herself. I know Diana is a comic character written years upon years ago, but I liked that the director and story moved with her development from a idealistic "girl" to a jaded woman to a demigod willing to protect humanity from itself if need be. I liked that she was physically superior to the male lead but didn't feel the need to flaunt it. And she could hold her own intellectually. I'm a huge action nerd, so the fight scenes were amazing! And, unlike Batman Vs Superman, which I had to force myself to finish, it had an involving story. I felt connected to the characters and enjoyed the telling of their story.

The cons, of course her outfit. I honestly couldn't imagine saying, "I'm going to fight the Nazis" (I can't even type it without hearing Brad Pitt from Inglorious Basterds doing voice-over) then pick out my shiniest unitard, and thigh high boots, but you do you girl. I also didn't like that, having read not one of the comics nor seen any reviews/articles on it, I was able to pick out the bad guy the first time he showed up on camera. Maybe I'm jaded, but it's getting way too easy to figure out who done it. And the Wonder Woman theme. Y'all, I had nightmares with that song playing over and over for days. They played it to the point I wanted to stuff the popcorn in my ears instead of my mouth.

All in all though, it was entertaining, it had a love scene, the fight scenes are still awesome (explosions everywhere!!!) and it had a great cast who did a terrific job selling the story.

I didn't watch this with the expectation of being blown away by the story line. I wasn't expecting to be moved emotionally or even invested in the characters at all. That's probably why I rated it so high compared to others. My only expectation was to be entertained and the movie delivered. The effects were alright, the acting OK, the story kind of thrown together, but it worked for what I wanted.

I liked that Tom Cruise varied from his only character and played a hero who... lets just say his elevator seemed to stop one or two floors shy of the penthouse suite. I loved Jake Johnson, but I love him pretty much all the time, the mummy wasn't scary or creepy, but her zombie mummies made up for that and the "heroine" was a loss, the story was more than a little silly (come on, Jekyll and Hyde?) but I finished it, so I was entertained.

I didn't go into this expecting it to be as awesome as the Brendan Frazier films from the 90's, I was younger and had lower expectations in a lot more than just movies, so maybe that's why my panties aren't in a twist about a remake. Also, let's be honest, the story line for the third installment wasn't exactly art either. Hopefully we've all learned from this and realize that a man who only has enough depth to play one character the last 20 or so years is not the best person to give carte blanche.

I loved this film. I've seen the film version of the play starring Bernadette Perers and loved it as well. I think many watched it thinking it would be a happily ever after story but it's not and that's the point. I first heard about/watched the play version in a college drama class. The characters start out struggling but still idealistic. They believe they can achieve their wishes and set out to do that. Then, after they've each gotten what they thought they wanted they realized they didn't want it or in some cases they didn't want it yet. And while they're struggling to come to grips with the idea that maybe they didn't want their wishes granted after all, the giant attacks and knocks them for a loop. Characters die, marriages fail and they see that maybe happily ever after isn't an idealistic fairy tale dream but instead it's the reality of their acceptance of and for themselves as they are. I gave it a nine because I loved the narrator and missed him in this version and as well as a few other changes. Overall it was wonderful and I can't wait until my children are old enough to enjoy it with me.
