Mother Up! (2013)
I think the joke is that it's not funny
I couldn't make it through one episode of this show. It seems as though I was written specifically to appeal to Hollywood insiders. None of the characters were likable. The main character will be almost sympathetic in one scene then completely irredeemable in the next. The "jokes" were mostly tired corny sitcom cliches and just made me feel sad.
The overall vibe I got was that the makers of this show felt like they were doing the audience a favor by making it and assumed everyone would feel obligated to like it. Much like it's main character the show tries to get by on a bunch of blustering false confidence with very little actual substance to back any of it up.
Morbius (2022)
Goes from irritating to boring to just bad...
Matt Smith was pretty good in this, but almost everything else was... not great, not terrible, just disappointing. Jared Leto's Morbius is supposed to be a tortured genius whose past makes him sympathetic, but is just comes across as pompous and annoying. They really go out of there way to compare him to Batman CONSTANTLY through the film. It is NOT subtle AT ALL... and he's just not. His powers created in a lab start working the second he gets his injection, and he has fully mastered them the SECOND they materialize, which pretty much ruins any suspension of disbelief right at the start of the movie. It's clear that we're supposed to feel SOMETHING for all the main characters, but there is zero time spent developing ANY of them, not even Morbius. Basically they've taken a great comic book character that should have just leapt on to the big screen, and turned it into a muddled, confusing, and overall boring waste of an hour and 40 minutes. Morbius has done great things in comics and even in some animated Marvel tv shows, and he deserves better than this movie.
The Order (2019)
A really good show if you're a fan of the genre
The show has it's good and bad points, but the good was enough to keep me interested... The action scenes with witches and werewolves doing battle were top notch, and the main villain was really great, however, a lot of the rest of the show felt like pure exposition, shoehorned into a clunky college romance side story. I really hope they do a second season, I just hope it's more sci-fi and less soap opera.
