I watched with focus for about 40 minutes. I didn't think I understood the mission. Venice was shot beautifully. Then I found myself wondering about Tom Cruise's skincare. Has feminism got us to where the women in the film all get attacked and beat up. The women don't wear fun clothes. Could Hayley wear black knit top and pants like Tom, instead of a vest? How did they conveniently find a coal-fired train for the long action sequence? I sat through whole thing, but too expensive for me. I am going to start watching the old MI tv show. I liked how they chose a team at the beginning based on what skills were needed and it was a caper.

I am a Sopranos fan. I had such a hard time making it through this movie. I couldn't figure out why Dickie Moltisanti is the main character. Uncle Junior was written so strangely. I don't think Livia's personality disorder was really explained, as I hoped. The set design, locations, costume design, and music are all great, making you think you are watching a really good movie. When the characters in the gang started showing up in bad wigs and trying so hard to pretend to be their older counterparts, not acting, it all went off the rails for me. I just couldn't see how Tony was getting mentored or learning anything from Dickie. I think maybe I would have preferred to watch the characters all dressed up in the nightclub talking, listening to Rat Pack type music, and hearing about the Italian dishes for 2 hours. Was all of this really about everyone wanting Dickie's mistress?

I was so pleasantly surprised by this film. This year saw Spirited, which has its own take on Scrooge, but this one is really well done. Clever writing and a really fun cast. My best Dickens list includes Muppet Christmas Carol, Patrick Stewart, Scrooged, and Diva's Christmas Carol. I'm adding this film to the list. I was so pleasantly surprised by this film. At 53 minutes on streaming, captions say Duke Ellington. It is Sing Sing Sing, Benny Goodman's famous recording from 1937. I kept feeling confused during this episode. But the train and the beautiful scenery in Nice make it memorable. I would have liked to know more about the history of the ruby. I tried to put myself in Katherine's shoes and I don't know if I would so easily fallen in with Poirot as a companion. I'm also surprised at the French police giving Poirot the lead in the investigation. There are a lot of good actors in this episode, so many I felt like it was being set up as Orient Express lite.

I had no idea until they started singing. I could not figure it out, the songs were worse than a Disney teen movie. I had to turn on captions to follow the story. Points given for costumes. Something is wrong when you are watching and your mind wanders to trying to guess how old Cyrano is and how he really knows Roxanne. Please see Steve Martin in Roxanne, or Jose Ferrer, or Gerard Depardieu. This is a sad mess that kills all romance.

I really enjoyed this tribute for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. It had music, dancers, and tons of drum corps and precision horsemanship. A highlight was the Swiss drum corps and the drum off with the Royal Marines. So many cultures from around the world represented.
Duchess of Richmond's ball

I had made it through the first 3 episodes, waiting impatiently for the Duchess of Richmond's ball on the eve of the Battle of Waterloo. This series has a good script and great costumes, but I was really disappointed in the ball. I felt like the writers did not spend enough time on the most famous ball in history.

I'm taking this show off my record list. Who thought keeping hostages in a bank for multiple episodes would be great tv? The bombs were pretty good. Too much mysterious stuff that you can't figure out because only the mastermind and the FBI agent know any of the pieces. Too bad.

I was a whole hour in before I figured out who Dave was and the man in the wheelchair. And I watch Hallmark movies every day! I think the writers wasted the two Williams sisters. Did they not want to act together? The son was very good in this one. Unbelievable that the city sister would leave her big restaurant competition to her sister!

Very obviously not a Hallmark production. While locations are beautiful and some interesting music choices, it looks like it was made with a cell phone. The dialogue is very stilted and many set pieces are done with two chairs and a wall. I'm a Hallmark junkie, so I'm surprised how bad I think this one is. It makes me never want to see these actors again.
