Love Hostel (2022)
Berojgar yojna for average and bad actors
Actors have good potential but again the same pathetic hindu girl muslim boy story just to appease to so called modernist.
Anyways it reminds me of Bombay where bombs were thrown on Mani Ratnams house for depicting Hindu Boy and Muslim girl. It appealed to masses and touched everyone to the heart. Directors and writers these days dont have the spne to try something like that.
The Married Woman (2021)
Good but far from fair.
The story is about a traditional women and her journey to self realisation. The only thing that keeps her traditional is her saree rest everything is modern about her.
It's good that we have started talking about female sexuality and lesbianism. But we are Far cry from understanding, given that the story writer and director failed to understand themselves. Story of female sexuality does not have to accompany indefidelity but sex sells.
There is an emotional aspect of the females which all so called modern directors failed to portray. May be those unnecessary intimates scens were a compensation for that. But then again what to expect from movie and TV industry which has been servicing on stereotyping female sexuality.
The background premise of riot seem to just add intensity to the plot which the original plot lacked anyways.
Almost all characters were either hindu or muslim, another stereotypical premise. If inter religion love is to be there are many other minority religions which are mostly neglected.
Anyways good first attempt but far cry from fair though. The Lead characters should have been given more screen time and they lacked horribly in character development.
Bandish Bandits (2020)
Amazing show
Naseerudin shah and Atul Kulkarni are terrific as usual. One of the best representations of Indian classical music. Only thing could not figure is what the hell were the lead actors doing. Deleting them entirely from the story does not make any difference, in fact it gets better.
Article 15 (2019)
Amazing historical fiction with great actors
It's a amazing work fiction with parts of several real stories mixed up. The actors are all amazing in their own and subtle ways.
I hope the director make the movie again on actual story as Article 19(1)(a) freedom to right of expression. And reflect the vicious nature of press and media starting with interference in investigation, misrepresentation of facts, hiding facts and evidence etc., just to get cheap TRP.
Kabir Singh (2019)
Sahid's acting and Kamini Kaushal's dialogue
Just two things to watch this movie for Sahid's acting and Kamini Kaushal's or dadi's dialogue. Rest all talent is wasted courtesy amazing direction! Don't expect much from South directors expect copy paste and taking credit for other's work Sahid here, and turning actress in display object. Well it's good that something was tried with actress.
In summary it's basically a movie based on engineering senior's fantasy depicted as medical college graduate for the guy to get the girl at the end, rather than end up on drunk on some drainage pipe in sadness of ex girlfriend's happy marriage.
Humble Politician Nograj (2018)
Fun to watch
Pretty good political comedy with great message - people get and live with what they choose.
Raaz Reboot (2016)
Good comedy
I am giving it a high rating not because of horror, which was obviously not there, but because of its hilarious depiction of what all is wrong with current so called horror movies.
A perfect husband neglecting his wife all time to work by sitting idle in office. A perfect wife with no expression except tears and well nothing else. A perfect bad boy, (boy? seems some guys never really grow up, bad? well no idea), who dies with a single hit with a 80's looking laptop. Wow, that laptop must have been a weapon of choice forsome good reason. A single hit kill? Is that a new martial art? Kung Fu Laptop style!
With over the top startling background music, horrible make up and especially the conversation between folks just added more and more to its comic sense. With the theater almost empty the laughing of people was loud and clear.
It's difficult to know whether its the marketing fault who wrongly advertised a good comedy as horror movie or director's fault who remembered after completing the movie "Ohh! It was suppose to be a horror movie". It would have done better if had been marketed as spoof of 1920.
