The Mandalorian: Chapter 22: Guns for Hire (2023)
This would have been an amazing epsiode..
... if it was earlier in the season, enjoyed everything that happened in this episode I just didn't enjoy where in the season this episode is taking place.
This seasons pacing is very off, its almost like episode 19 was originally going to be different or not exist then they realised it had to be done eventually.
I think the primary issue is we lost a complete episode of content thanks to the side story of world building. I enjoyed that it happened but I do wish some of this had been sprinkled in the season.
This episode would be a 10/10 episode earlier in the season. It would have been cool if Jack Black had a connection to the doctor, or gideon, something deeper.
However my fan plea is cast jack black in Andor, so we can see what awful thing he did in the empire.
I don't like that super battle droids are now high speed sprinters but it was fun to watch the chase.
The Mandalorian: Chapter 23: The Spies (2023)
Any excellent episode that advances the plot
My only complaint is one i've repeated all season, that some of this episode's events could have been included in in the prior episode and been more effective at making the filler episodes feel LESS filler.
Honestly if the 6 mins of shadow council had been the end of the previous episode, or even Kane's message to Gideon had been chunked to put that part in the prior episode
I undertand why that wasn't the case,
Its a western, most of season 1 we had 20-30 mins of the episodes arch with would be done when the episode was over and wed have another 10-20mins.
I think many fans are spoiled by season 2, where the opposite was usually the truth.
Max (2015)
Family movie for people who never saw air-bud
Max is a cute family friendly movie about a kid and his dog.
The movie started perfectly, settled into reality, felt like they were going to be good and logical, and frankly realistic about military service dogs. Act 1 and 2 of the movie were great family friendly fun. Character are established in realism, and it had a cute family friendly feeling.
However in Act 3 it felt like the ending got a hyper fictional Hollywood rewrite, more action, more explosions, more boom. I can see the executives in my head now and it just felt so tacked on and forced.
In the end I was very disappointed, however to a 3-8 year old this movie would probably be amazing.
