The original tv series nommed asseblief and to a lesser extent the first film, were moderately entertaining. This final film is a travesty and should be avoided. The opening up of the plot does not work and results in a silly mess. The original characters become secondary and instead we are confronted with a poorly conceived diamond heist carried out by some stereotypical characters entrenched firmly in apartheid South Africa which at times is embarrassing and ultimately a reminder of the narrow minded feebleness of that time in the countries history . Stick to the tv series which at least remained within its parameters.

I am often asked to describe my perfect film .. the answer is always Barry Lyndon ... not a scene out of place. Dialogue and script written with depth wit and intelligence, lean and taut direction, exquisite photography and superlative acting by the entire cast ... a perfect film
