Great action and CGI, however........
25 March 2024
I decided to write a review for one main reason. The perceived dislike of the RAF, and more to the point the English.

Now the CGI is pretty impressive and the acting is not bad, though there are a few that are a bit hammy, but I think Austin Butler still thinks he's portraying Elvis and spends most of his time putting on the pout and looking into the lens giving the sleepy look of eyes half open.

2nd episode in, a scuffle happens outside a pub between a foppish RAF pilot (as all RAF pilots and navigators were officers from the middle/upper class pilots) and real down to earth honest to goodness US Army pilot, as the RAF were classed as cowards for bombing at night. The fight didn't really happen as the fopp was laid flat in one punch. Then a crew crash lands on a remote Scottish island and whilst talking to their base, hey guess what these people don't like the English either!?!? Not watched the rest yet as I feel this will be an anti RAF and English series and they will milk the "English" stereotypes. Given that Hanks and Spielberg had a hand in this series, I find it very disappointing they would do this.

What's also not mentioned, is the that there were many, many foreign and commonwealth pilots serving in the RAF.

Don't get me started on the US NORDEN Bombs sight. They stated that only the Manhattan Project was more classified. Turns out the Germans had copied it in 1937 and when the Brits were finally allowed to use it (because the US navy refused to let other countries use it), they decided to stick to their own remarkable SABS (Stabilised Bombs Sight) MKlV. Out was super to use and was pretty much as accurate as the NORDEN.

Don't get me wrong, I'm Australian, so will stick it to the Brits every time I can......just like two siblings. But will stick up for them when I think they're getting a raw deal.

Unfortunately I think this going to be "how we, the Americans, won the war" show, but I might try to see it through.

What have I just watched???
30 August 2023
Started off sort of ok. However after 30 minutes I realised it was going to make my head hurt.

The acting was fairly good, but the horror parts were free and far between. One of the worst parts was when the police were called. When the officer turned up, it was as if the props person had raided a primary school's fancy dress box. I've seen a 6 year old make a better police costume.

I did watch the whole film, as I was intrigued to how it would end, but I admit I did fast forward all the boring and pointless bits.

However, I'm not going to spoil the ending as I want others to suffer watching this like I did.
