Different type of Characters - Great Show
19 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
***may be spoilers*** I really like Star. It's different. The mix of Star, her sister and the little rich girl are entertaining. Jahil, and the athlete, both are men you can have a love/hate relationship with. They are so great at times and then they make the worst decisions and you just want to scream at them. Queen Latifah does an outstanding job of showing her feelings and being down to earth. Her relationship with her daughter evolves in a heartbreaking way. The daughter, herself, keeps you coming back to find out the outcome of her situations. I hope it continues as I look forward to traveling with the girls as they trudge to stardom.

13 Reasons Why (2017–2020)

Good Show - Flaws and all . . .
19 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
****SPOILER ALERT****

I thought this was so well done. It kept you wanting to watch. I like how there is a great portrayal of all the different types of families these kids come from. So many different backgrounds yet teen events effect teens in the same way. What they do with those events often depends on their upbringing and their backgrounds and I felt this was shown well. My concern is that it shows suicide as too easy of a choice. Leaving blame behind . . . it doesn't sit well. Unfortunately, that's the way of suicide and why we so often hear that it's a permanent solution to a temporary problem. When you see all the reasons that someone commits suicide it can feel real but you just want to scream at them and say "take a step back!!! . . . look at the solutions available to you . . . Suicide is NOT the answer". No one knows when someone is truly on the edge. There are so many false threats of suicide - so many comments when someone is just looking for attention. The HUGE problem and factor here is that often it will happen in a matter of minutes, where the rage and fear and total feeling of loss and unworthiness builds inside and you temporarily have no idea how you can possibly escape the feeling other than jumping off a roof or tying a brick to your ankle and jumping off a bridge. At THAT exact moment there are no options - it truly feels like there are NO choices other than to end it. This show - and I understand some suicides are more like this - depicts more of a premeditated "self-murder". . . . You harmed me and I'm not going to give you a chance to rectify that. I'm just going to kill myself because of it and then tell the world that you did that to me. . . I worry that this film might insight others to leave blame behind and escape to death with a knowledge that someone will "be sorry".
