The Batman (2022)
Matt Reeves truly pays off
If it's all about good picture and good filmmaking, then "The Batman" is an absolute well-crafted superhero film in various aspects, and for The Dark Knight community, a great Batman film - considering it's also concentrating a typical social-moral issue, the corruption of the Gotham city, as its story arc, similar to the last two of Nolan's TDK trilogy. And I haven't even mentioned about the glorious performances of the ensemble cast.
But however, with all due respect for the amazing work of the inspiring Matt Reeves, it is not a perfect film. Reeves slightly fell down to perpetuating the heroism acts of Pattinson's Batman in the third act, ultimately lasting the film into a 3 long hours. Surely it's not always a bad thing for the structure of the film, but the key point here is the execution, where Reeves failed here - his only failure in this film. Even his only failure turns out not to be very bad, but just a little bit disappointing, and still it is not too bad. In the final act and in some parts of the film, what we saw we have already seen in Zack Snyder's Justice League, where the directors, by having full control of the creative element of the film, started to rambling on several shots which hugely affecting the film's pace, then made it less-effective and for some audience could see the tiresome on it.
Basically, it's a must-watch for cinema lovers even if you're not a comic-book or superhero-film fan. What you'd get is top-notch directing, cinematography, scoring, and acting as its culmination. Robert Pattinson truly is The Batman, and you'd be better ready for that. Also a very big shoutout to the rest of the cast, especially Jeffrey Wright, Zoe Kravitz, Paul Dano, John Turturro, and the unrecognizable Colin Farrell. Well, since I mentioned Colin Farrell here, I'd also better give many credits to the makeup artists for their art on him.
You better finish The Batman 2 in a couple of years, Mr. Reeves!
