Las últimas horas de Mario Biondo (2023)
A good one
This is a great documentary. However, I think many people here had different expectations and missed the point of it, and thus gave it a bad rating. It's extremely obvious the docuseries was made precisely to showcase just how delusional the Italian family is, and not to support their stance. They ignore autopsy reports, experts, etc. Which prove their golden son had (accidentally or intentionally) committed suicide, and are just looking for that one person who will validate their insane conspiracy theories so they can tell everyone else "Ha! We told you so!". Oh, and it seems to be the mother who is the ringleader. We can also see how much the media and social networks can contribute to and feed their delusions.
La chica de nieve (2023)
Loved it!
I love Netflix' Spanish shows (well, most of them) and I got to say, this one surely didn't disappoint! The acting was great (particularly Milena Smit's performance), the setting was perfect for this kind of show, and I found the storyline and the jumps from 2010 to 2016, and then to 2019, quite easy to follow.
Now, I knew what the ending was going to be as soon as they mentioned what Amaya's mother's job was: a fertility doctor. I guessed it straight away that the kidnapper would be a patient who couldn't have a child of their own, so that's the only gripe I have with this whole thing (why didn't the police check all of the mother's patients whose treatments were unsuccessful?), and it was pretty obvious that all the other suspects were red herrings. But that still doesn't change my opinion as everything else was done really well. Hoping to see more Spanish Netflix shows in the future.
Falling for Christmas (2022)
Not too bad
Yes, it's cheesy, the story is predictable, etc... But I really don't mind it. And considering how bad some Christmas/Netflix movies can be, this was more than fine. I'm a teacher and I watched it with my high-schoolers (junior year) on the last day of school just the other day. Most of them liked it. (Oh and it's an appropriate movie to show to kids, no NSFW scenes, if that's one of your worries; since this was at school, I had to make sure because, despite the fact I'm talking about high schoolers, there always might be some angry parents calling)
This movie never pretends to be a blockbuster, or a masterpiece; it doesn't take itself too seriously. And that's OKAY! I loved the scenery shown in some of the scenes, and of course, Lindsay Lohan's comeback! Good to see her in a starring role, she plays a spoiled heiress really well.
