M*A*S*H: That's Show Biz (1981)
Season 10, Episode 1

Disgusting display
26 May 2022
Let me begin by saying I'm a physician who worked in a war zone as a US Army officer. I was also a patient after suffering a spinal cord injury courtesy of an enemy combatant.

Combat wounded patients were and are much too sick for anything like this. The producers acted like they were a gritty and realistic "comedy".

Sing this episode for 10 minutes made me want to vomit. Totally ridiculous portrayal of soldiers recovering from post-op wartime injuries at a MASH/CASH.

The older you are, the funnier it is

You have to really remember the old Western cowboy television shows to get many of the jokes in this movie.

I believe the poor reviews are written by many of those too young to know that genre.

My wife and I are in our mid fifties and enjoyed this movie immensely.

Bonanza: Hoss and the Leprechauns (1963)

Very relevant today

I think let me preface, my son has cystic fibrosis.

With COVID19, he could die. People think I'm crazy to wear a mask in southern West Virginia. I feel like Hoss in this episode.

I'm a Public Health Physician and I know the truth but everyone thinks I'm crazy for wearing a mask.

I wish I had a professor that people respected that rode into town to help people understand.

Not very accurate from a public health perspective
28 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I'm a physician residency trained in public health.

It's not the Anthrax bacillus/bacteria that would have been a concern, but the spores. The bacillus doesn't live for very long outside the body, but the spores do.

Person-to-person transmission of Anthrax is not that common.

The spores are commonly found in very small quantities in soil and certain livestock. But people almost never get sick because our bodies have natural immunity which can take care of small amounts of almost anything. The doctor should have been wearing masks to prevent spore exposure, well known even back then.

The "weaponized anthrax" that was mailed after the 9/11 Terror text was actually Anthrax spores specially treated to allow them to remain Airborne for longer periods of time. And to be breathed deeply into the lungs.

In other words, the show greatly exaggerated how deadly that hide would have been. In fact, the hide would have been tanned and therefore not contagious.

Rawhide: Twenty-Five Santa Clauses (1961)

Most under recognized actor of his generation
27 November 2021
Edwin did classic episodes of The Twilight Zone where he played an old man who believed his grandfather clock winding down would cause his death. And in another, death came for him and he played a con man webi conceded death to save a little girl.

Made me cry in each of those episodes and again in this Rawhide episode. And I never cry during movies.

That speaks to the ability of this man to act.

Not your father's Grim Reaper.
23 September 2021
I'll start off by saying I'm a fan Grim Reaper lore. This was not what I was expecting.

Reminds me of a movie I saw in the 19 late 80s or early 90s called SHOCKER. Someone on death row survives electrocution and comes back to... Get this... Shock people to death who did him wrong.

This was better than that monstrosity and is better then most low-budget movies. It was worth my time and I watched it all the way through, something I oftentimes can't do when watching horror movies.

If you like B horror flicks, and are willing to except a lot of plot holes ... It's worth checking out . Had I paid to see it in a theater... I would have been pi$$ed.

Terrible acting ruins an otherwise okay plot
1 September 2021
Can't stress enough just how bad the overacting is by the guest stars playing the young married couple Zachariah and Teresa. Especially Theresa! Ughhhh.

Can't recommend this episode for that reason.

Of course to Cartwrights and other regulars are always up to par . Don't know how they can consistently put in such a top-notch performance over so many seasons. But they do.

The character is not obnoxious, he appears to be autistic.
21 April 2021
I totally disagree with the other reviewer who stated this character is obnoxious. Or a bad actor. Or that the dialogue was bad.

I'm a physician who has an autistic son and I believe this character was written to be autistic. In that case, they did an excellent job.

I love this episode because it is so different from all the others in this anthology series.

One of the BEST horror movies in the 2000s
7 October 2020
Good acting, and special fx. Nice sets & lighting.

Some dialogs was bad. Doctors and social workers do NOT behave like that.

A B-movie but still fun.

Blumhouse quality film
18 July 2020
There are worse ways to spend a couple hours. Blumhouse consistently puts out some of the best horror movies around. And this one, although average for them, is still better than most put out in the past by others.

There is a goof. They show optics on the M-16s that were not available 25 years ago . They didn't have red dot sights in Vietnam.

Very good horror movie but not an instant classic.
1 July 2020
This isn't a comedy. It's a straight up horror movie. And compared to most of the movies I've watched recently (I'm a huge fan of the genre) this one is in the top 10%. Well worth your time.

And although they do show killing, it's not especially gross or excessive, in terms of violence, for 2020. I would watch it again. And I usually don't do that

Great movie poster but that is about it
11 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I'll start by saying I'm a big fan of the horror genre, and tend to like Way more movies that I dislike.

The set up for this movie is plausible and very interesting. The execution was horrible.

The acting by the main character is good. The portrayal of someone with OCD was very stereotypical. To the point of being offensive to anyone that has ever known anyone with the disorder . And predictably, the person is basically cured at the end of the movie which doesn't happen in real life.

The psychiatrist/psychologist in the movie is way too young to have that much education. She is supposed to be educated presumably, but consistently uses improper grammar. A trained psychiatrist would know the difference between well and good. The dialogue is horrible. It sounds like she's still in gradeschool.

The main character was semi well done.

Although the characters maybe good actors, you wouldn't know what because they aren't even trying in this movie.

The special effects were few and far between, and not very good.

I took away two stars because they broke a very basic horror movie rule. You don't hurt dogs. And you don't hurt children. They almost killed a dog, and a child was killed. 0/2.

The more I think about it, the more upset I am that I paid money to watch this on voodoo.
