Sicko (2007)

Michael Moore is the #1 patriot in USA, I hope people realize it now.
18 June 2007
I can only hope this movie wakes some people up, especially those flag waving people who keep on repeating slogans like "greatest country in the world" etc. This could be a serious wake up call for a proud nation. I have always wondered how people can still call it the greatest country if it does not have universal health care, but maybe the reason is, they don't know any better. They do not realize that in other western countries this has been done for ages and it works.

People of USA should embrace Moore as the patriot he is. He wants the American PEOPLE all the best, but he gets sacrificed by the same people because he dares to speak about the government. But true patriots rise against governments too, if they are bad for the people. United states is not the flag, not the white house, not the senate, not the soaring eagle. It is the people living there, and this is what they have to remember. You can demand for universal health care, and you can vote for it.

The Fountain (2006)

One of the best ever (Spoilers included)
2 June 2007
Warning: Spoilers
I did not know what to expect, the trailer did not look so interesting and I thought maybe Aronofsky made an easy access blockbuster, but boy was I wrong. I guess it's easy to see that it's one of those movies that you either love or hate. If you can't follow the story and see it like the plot summary here describes (3 different stories in different times) then you probably missed it already.

SPOILER WARNING: It's just one story. I have read so many stupid reviews about it being 3 different stories about love or eternal youth or whatever. NO IT'S NOT! The guy lost his wife and is trying to understand death, understand our place in the universe, how everything is connected. The conquistador parts are him reading his wife's book, imagining the characters and settings like everyone does when they read a book. This is not even hidden in any way, it's not like a David Lynch thing where you have no clue where a dream sequence ends and what is real. In this one, you did not need to guess or anything, just watch. The whole story was about the doctor and his wife, her death and how he had to accept it and understand that we all die, but in a way we live on as part of the universe. The parts in the space bubble are just him going through all the emotions of trying to save her and finally accepting her death. He finishes her story, just like she wanted him to. By accepting his mortality.

It's all quite simple, I guess what confuses some people are the 3 different settings.

What a load of ...

It truly takes a serious talent to make a movie so bad. Ed Wood would be jealous of Steven's latest cinematic vomit.

Dakota Fanning is a good actor. Unfortunately her role in this movie is to annoy everyone and acting like an idiot. Her brother in the movie is a retard with no discipline or any sort of understanding of his surroundings. You just do not act out like the kids did in this movie, without getting some sense beaten into you. Cruise was quite bad in this one also...I loved him in Magnolia, and he has done some roles where his actual skills were needed, but this time he just tried to look scared and confused and dumb. I guess he did that, but does that count for great acting? His character was a spineless git who could not even control two little children in time of crisis...the kids walked all over him and made surviving a real task.

Major plot holes, horrible characters, no feeling...just a waste of money and talent. I'll give this trash 1/10 because there is no option for -10 etc. As bad as Independence day and Pearl Harbor, though this had less pro-American propaganda.
