Nordic crimes
18 September 2015
I've watched this movie now because I'm scheduling a thematic channel.

It is a phenomenon. The detective literature and films from the Nordic countries boom. Not only from Larsson but since the Henning Mankell's inimitable Inspector Walander. And always with its trademark: an undercurrent of social criticism.

The Q department is a very good idea that will gives us good detective stories to fans of the genre. Some clichés tarnish the story: the strongly different pair of cops, the detective alone and tormented, the chiefs are always fools ... But the plot is smoother, enough to enjoy.

I look forward to the next chapter: Fasandraeberne.

Overstreched

I've watched this movie now because I'm scheduling a thematic channel.

As I said in 'Source Code' review I love Michelle (and her Irish surname, not Welsh, sorry). However this one is not her best role. What the writer wants to say about this woman? I think her character is killed after the tension of the thriller. There is something more in the plot, but the resolution is somewhat crude.

Blind woman alone in her house with a murderer stalking. Certainly the best is Audrey Hepburn in 'Wait Until Dark', and Uma Thurman in 'Jennifer 8' is different. But not this one (all sacrificed to thriller).

As for Michael Keaton, luckily came Iñárritu into his life (with the permission of Downey Jr.).

A classic, surprisingly

Bruce Campbell is the best. Why he has not appeared on screen more often? Army of Darkness is a joke, but over time has become a classic. Ash is a real anti hero in movie history, after this adventure and Evil Dead's. And I love the mention of the Necronomicon, the central book of the Lovecraft universe (When a good movie about it?).

Sam Raimi had fun with the Harryhausen style skeletons and the Robin Hood sword battles. He made several milestones of a new genre: horror comedy. Thanks.

The only 'But...' is the advertising to the NRA.

Hard SF or Thriller?
15 September 2015
I have watched this movie now because I'm scheduling a thematic channel.

Does science have no feelings? Love conquers all?

Jake Gyllenhaal is in his best. And... what can I say... I love Michelle (her welsh surname too).

I love films where reality is not what it seems. And it seems a fast paced thriller but I think that this falls under the genre of Hard Science-Fiction. The best is that it forces you to think, as Interestellar.

The only 'But...' is that certain times of the script are slaughtered to the thriller tension. However the end result is powerful and moving. Highly recommended.
