Four inept horror shorts
23 February 2017
Warning: Spoilers
It was with great anticipation that I watched this film. I was excited by the idea of female writers and directors making a horror anthology. I am a big fan of the genre and it is lacking female writers and directors, as is the industry as a whole. I was incredibly disappointed by these half baked stories. The first story succeeded in creating atmosphere and tension but then had nothing to do with that energy. The Birthday party was one hundred percent pointless. It was like a terribly unfunny comedy. Don't fall was also quite pointless. It was sort of like watching The Blair Witch Project in fast forward. I don't mean faster pacing, I mean literally like watching it in fast forward. Who are these people? Who cares? The last one, directed by the quite talented Karen Kusama was an interesting premise. What happened to Rosemary and her baby? Well what happened was nothing and then the films with also nothing happening, except that I guess Satanist are now running all of the United States. I think that the most disappointing part of all of this is that they weren't more feminine. I wanted to see the female pov all over these shorts, but the scripts were all so empty that it must have been very hard to put any kind of personality on to them. I hope that this train wreck will not prevent future attempts at this endeavor.

Excellent new show that promises to continue being good
27 September 2016
I just watched the first episode of this wonderful new show. It was a sneak peak free stream from HBO on demand, and I will tell you that it sets up what should be a great series. Our female lead is both beautiful and funny. The show has style and substance and really hit the ground running. This felt like episode six of season three. I have very high expectations for this series. We have two very engaging female leads, we are capturing Los Angeles (a city I lived in for four years while I was the same age as the women on the show), we have an underrepresented pov on display. I will be counting the days until I can watch the next episode. I am just so impressed with the writing, the acting, and the overall feel of the show. We are living in a golden age of television. Movies can no longer compete!
