The American Meme (2018)
More Than Meets The Eye
I like how the filmmaker follows 4 notable social media icons, especially Paris Hilton, as they use their online presence to create something bigger than themselves. I think Bert Marcus does a splendid job approaching industry notables to share the rollercoaster ride that follows when deciding to share your life for millions to watch - also get a glimpse of their life and insight. This documentary is a 'must watch' as it helps the viewer better understand that there's more than meets the eye.
Deadpool 2 (2018)
Hilarious
The first one was hilarious and I really wanted to know what they were going to do with this one. I like movies, especially comedies to hook me from beginning to end and this film was able to have me do that. The writing was good and Ryan Reynolds shined in this one. I also thought the character story was great and got to see more of the superhero or 'anti-hero'.
Power Rangers (2017)
Great Updated Twist
As Zordon said, only find those who are worthy and strong. So I think the cast did a great job at portraying that with this modern updated storyline. I remember watching the original TV series when it first debut as I was just a kid then. I felt like the chemistry between all of them could have been a little more natural but in the end it's about being a team and only 2 hours doesn't do so much justice to that. I really hope to see what they do with the sequel.
Gaga: Five Foot Two (2017)
Made Me Respect Her More
If you want someone being 'real' and 'authentic' then definitely watch this film. I thought it was worth watching and I got to learn her work ethic. She seems to really know what she wants and she goes for it. I thought the behind-the-scenes of her music video shoots were great to show that even though she's in pain - the show must go on! It shows that she is an artist and she will continue to stand the test of time with her music, artistry and talent. She put her all into this project as she does in all her projects and that was my key takeaway from this film.
I'll Sleep When I'm Dead (2016)
I'm More Of A Fan Now
I've listened to Steve Aoki's music for 6 years now and always been fascinated by his work. I didn't know much about him personally beside the one fact about his father's connection to Benihana. This was a great film to watch as I feel more connected to the artist himself and that he's a human being like everyone else. I understand him a lot more and I think the director and the crew did a great job at communicating that. It's worth watching to get to know one of the biggest names in the EDM/music industry. The man is a robot also, can't be human after watching this!
Ibiza (2018)
LOL
I'm a fan of the work from the cast on SNL and I loved the music so this was enjoyable to watch. It kept me laughing from beginning to end. I understand the dialogue could have better more suffice but for a late night watch with some wine and fun friends who share the love to EDM music, this was great!
XOXO (2016)
From a different perspective
I been attending these festivals since 2013 and I thoroughly enjoyed this film. Even though it was predictable at times, I do relate to the characters and feel like I know them as well. These scenarios do happen, believe it or not and I think they played out well. This was more of a storytelling film based off the scenarios given than a film showing performances of DJ's and people dancing which I what I wanted to see and which I did enjoy from beginning to end.
EDC 2013: Under the Electric Sky (2014)
It's more than just a genre
This is such a lovely film. It really captures the essence of why Insomniac does this, how come they do it every year and that this is more than just a music genre. It's more of a community and Insomniac chose to do this for the community and be the expert 'experience creators' that they are. I been going to EDC Las Vegas since 2013 and every year is magical in a different way. This is definitely one of the must-see films that a fan and non-fan should watch to see what it's all about
What We Started (2017)
You will be hooked
I'm a fan of the genre and have been for over 5 years. When watching this film, I learned a lot from the history pertaining to the early days of the genre, how the DJ's would perform in different settings, etc. I especially liked hearing the insight from the current artists topping the charts in this genre and from different generations. Overall, if you're not a EDN fan, you will be intrigued from this film, learn some history of this genre and have a better idea of why the fans of this genre are really passionate.
