Mr. Birchum: Oh, the Humanity (2024)
Episode 5
This show had been getting better as of late, but this episode was kind of a mess. The writing was bad because there was no natural flow to things. One minute one person is in charge, then someone else was in charge, then they had inspection, it was just too much too fast, all while dragging things out to a slow pace.
I am not sure if the Burly Man TV dinner guy being a recurring character and someone who is constantly there for a source of inspiration and momentum for Birchum is something that is needed either. But I am also never going to complain about Patrick Warburton providing comedic relief either.
Mr. Birchum: The Gym Rope Incident (2024)
Episode 6
I don't know why they felt the need to do a mini time jump here and have Birchum end up paying for his crime in the end, but I do have to say that this show turned into something really enjoyable by the end. It started off as a really bad parody of what I thought the left would think about the right, but it turned into a fun little cartoon in the end.
I hope we get more episodes here. The finale was not a standout, but this was good enough for me to keep watching and I hope the quality stays high.
No buzz around this show online, but I hope more people look it up and decide to check it out for sure.

The Renegades have been an underrated team for too long and now Robyn is shining on her own due to Charlette's injury. Deonna Purrazzo needs some direction in AEW and going full heel will help, but the problem is that the women get so little TV time even across three shows that it is hard to push more than a few people at a time.
At least Brian Cage got the win, but it seems like AEW will never really push him. Lucha Underground used him well, Impact got him into the title mix, I don't know why AEW can't see that he can be a superstar. Rush is certainly in that same group as well, but mayne there's hope for him.
All Elite Wrestling: Rampage: The Streets of Bakersfield (2024)

It looks like they are trying to rebuild The Acclaimed, but I don't know if that can happen. I was never a fan of them, but there was a time where they were such a huge act for this company and now they have fallen off completely. Maybe a feud with The Elite can get them back there, but I doubt it.
Chris Jericho has had a lot of great gimmicks over the years, but whatever he is doing is not working. Brian Myers and the Learning Tree worked in Impact because it was about legitimate tips to improve the futures of the talents. Jericho is just acting like a bad parody of a kids TV show host, and I'm not sure why.
All Elite Wrestling: Rampage: Over The Top (2024)

It looks like after all of these years they may finally be giving Satnam Singh a shot. I don't know if they're planning a trip to India or hoping to get on TV there or this is unrelated, but I don't know if he will ever be able to have a long match with a quality talent.
I just can't get into Kyle O'Reilly matches at all. He has talent and ability and he does everything correctly, but he still wrestles like a small time indy guy with no personality. He's been on major promotion TV for a long time and he still has yet to develop any personality or character or true flow within his in-ring performances.
All Elite Wrestling: Rampage: Beyond War (2024)

How many times do we need to see Penta El Zero Miedo against The Butcher? I don't even know if it has happened that many times, but it just feels like we've seen it in singles and tags since the beginning of AEW.
AEW is starting to give some deserving individuals a chance like the Cage of Agony and others, but the shows still feel so disjointed and it just seems like random matches thrown in there every week. There are not a lot of stories going on and while I don't need them at the expense of matches, just some upward trajectory to follow for some of the younger stars would definitely be valuable.
All Elite Wrestling: Rampage: Episode #4.24 (2024)
June 14
We had a good main event here with Jay Lethal against Pac. These are two veterans, two people who have been good for a long time and they were given an opportunity to showcase their talent. I don't know why AEW won't give Lethal a real push, but what can you do?
The rest of the show was underwhelming though. Random matches where it was clear who was going to win, and once again Rocky Romero is there to just put over someone from another company. I don't see this bright future in Shota Umino that so many do.
They could've given us another women's match on this show for balance, but you know not to expect that from AEW or even WWE.
AEW Collision: Out Cold (2024)
May 18
I know that they are trying to repush Hook, but it is just so ridiculous to see bigger, stronger and better wrestlers having to lose to him.
FTR need to use their position to start elevating other tag teams, but it looks like each week it is just about them wanting to have their kind of match and nothing else matters. It is disappointing, but just proof that nothing in wrestling has really changed over the last 50 years, everyone will still politic their way to the results they want.
Another forgettable episode of Collision, a show no different than Rampage at this point in time, for better or worse.
AEW Collision: Live from Las Vegas (2024)
May 25
Ahead of Double or Nothing there was not much to this card, but I guess that is to be expected. They can't all be winners for AEW, but at least we got to see a few familiar faces on the program.
Serena Deeb is just going to resort to a random character once she loses to Toni Storm and that is disappointing as she has potential to really elevate the women's division. I think Mercedes Mone should be feuding with Toni Storm or be in the talk for the World Title and Serena should be feuding with other technical wrestlers over the TBS one.
And what will it take for AEW to pull the trigger and finally push The Infantry?
AEW Collision: Empty Handed (2024)
June 1
I am glad Johnny TV is finally getting some opportunities again on AEW TV. I don't know why he wasn't before, but even if it is just to put over other wrestlers he deserves these chances.
I can't take this turning into Kyle O'Reilly's show though. His matches are just dull and boring and there are so many people more deserving of being in his spot. We know that this is going to end up with him joining The Undisputed Kingdom, or some alignment with most of the people in that group anyway, so what is the point? He isn't viable as a main eventer or a solo star at all in AEW in the near future in my opinion.
AEW Collision: Sacrificed (2024)
June 8
Top to bottom this was actually one of the best episodes of Collision in some time. The opening match was pretty good, but you know as soon as the time limit is teased that it is going to happen. FTR has to put someone over eventually, because they're getting boring if they don't.
Dustin Rhodes cut a really good promo and it a shame this company is just using him to put over younger talent whether they end up going far or not.
The new Kris Statlander gimmick could work, but it needs to end with her getting one of the womens titles. If it doesn't, she'll end up disappearing like the rest of the roster.
All Elite Wrestling: Dynamite: Back To The Basics (2024)
June 12
Dustin Rhodes had a good promo last week ahead of the match with Jack Perry. This was fine, but you knew Perry would win. AEW almost never gives us an upset of any kind and that makes it hard to invest in the talent. Rhodes getting one last run would not have derailed any momentum for Perry.
Will Ospreay and Fenix was solid, but again, you knew what the result was going to be, so it was just about seeing a few high spots along the way. The Swerve and Ospreay build is just not working. Both are randomly trying to act tough when it does not really come off as believable for either man involved here.
The Outlaws: Episode #3.2 (2024)
Episode 302
The scenes with the cops are really the only down part of this program, but outside of that The Outlaws continues to highly entertain me. I feel like maybe the episodes could be a bit shorter, but that is such a small complaint.
They have a really good storyline for this season and have found a way to amp up the dangers even more.
The Dean is a great villain here. Sometimes casting of villains is easy, but since he is so limited with the prison setting it is hard for most people to stand out in this kind of role, but the guy they have found to play this character is doing the best with what he can.
The Outlaws: Episode #3.1 (2024)
Episode 301
The Outlaws was intended to be a two season show, really one year with the seasons filmed back to back, but they found a way to hook me right back into this crazy world. Rani is back, she had a crazy situation when she drove off and they found a way to keep things fresh with the gang again.
The laughs are there, the enjoyment is there and this show continues to be such a breath of fresh air. While I think Stephen Merchant would shine best in a traditional sitcom, this kind of is more fitting because it allows the other characters to be normal and accentuate his truly absurdist behavior to the maximum.
The Outlaws: Episode #3.3 (2024)
Episode 303
There really aren't any bad episodes of The Outlaws, but this one felt like it was just a little bit flat, that it was just missing that extra kind of punch, if that makes sense.
Myrna and her personal life just fails to really interest me. They have dialed her back a little bit this year compared to the first two seasons, but she is still a little bit offputting.
This show is such a refreshing break from the bulk of what we are getting on TV these days though. I wish we would get more fun ensemble programs like this one, but I feel like it is such a rare occurrence and everything else is one star driven.
The Outlaws: Episode #3.4 (2024)
Episode 304
This show is really enjoyable because they have the right balance of comedy and drama. This is something a lot of shows struggle with, but The Outlaws somehow does it well. Sometimes each scene is a mix of both too.
I see a lot of negative comments about Rani, but I personally love her because she is real and there isn't all good or all bad, or that many cartoonish traits around her.
We know they are going to prevail in the end, but I still want to see how it all plays out. I just wish we had the standard six episodes in this third season, five feels like such a huge letdown. Enjoyed it once again though.
The Crown: Persona Non Grata (2023)
Episode 601
I love 90's music, but I was a little too young to remember much of the Diana situation. I am glad this is at the forefront of this season. The Crown always starts a little bit slow, but they find a way too hook you right back into the magic of this world and why royals are so fascinating to the rest of the world that has kind of moved past that concept.
This was a good start to the season and only felt like it dragged its feet a little bit. Most episodes of The Crown feel 15 minutes too long, but for me thankfully this one only felt maybe 5-10 minutes too long, so that is a huge upgrade for me.
The Outlaws: Episode #3.5 (2024)
Episode 305
They made it a little too obvious what would happen when they lured the bad guys into the hut that was monitored, but what can you do?
This was high on drama and you did get the sense that once again the gang was trapped when the hard drive was smashed.
They ended the second season with a way where it did not seem like there would be a third. They wrapped this season up on a happy note, so who knows?
The quality was still high this year so I would love to see more, but if they can't find a way to bring Christopher Walken back for year four then maybe just end it. But good finale for sure though.
All Elite Wrestling: Dynamite: Double or Nothing Fallout (2024)
May 29
It seems like they are still pushing Mercedes Mone as a face which does not make a lot of sense. I don't know if it is her decision or Tony Khan's decision, but they need to make her heel. Rushing the Skye Blue attacker revelation and ending that match on the same show did not make a lot of sense.
Rocky Romero is still putting up good matches despite the other roles he has, but losing to Jon Moxley is disappointing. You knew Moxley would win, but Romero has been a far better wrestler for his entire career and for some reason is not the one holding a World Title, Jon Moxley is. I don't get it.
All Elite Wrestling: Dynamite: MJF Returns (2024)
June 5
I am not sure what to make of Saraya getting more and more in-ring time. She is obviously a big star and someone who people know, but there are far better competitors out there in the women's division who deserve the spotlight.
Swerve's title reign is not really working at this point though and they need to do something to get it going. Will Ospreay will be Champion eventually, but it would be a mistake if he were to win immediately at Forbidden Door. Save it for All In, or hold off and let him grow the prestige of the International Championship for a few months.
And just keep Jon Moxley off of TV.
The Chase: Episode #17.64 (2024)
June 3
Usually I am not a big fan of the celebrity episodes of this show, but this was a good one here. Not a huge fan of Michael Sheen or the roles he played, but he was smarter than most of the celebs they have had on this show.
The Beast is the right chaser to have in these though as he has more personality than the rest of them.
A good show here and with not much original programming on in the summer months I have been watching The Chase almost every day. This is probably the best game show out there, trailing only Jeopardy, but nothing will ever top that show in my mind, nothing has a chance to.
Elsbeth: A Fitting Finale (2024)
A Fitting Finale
Of course they were going to find a way for Elsbeth to stay, but that doesn't mean it was all bad. This was a solid episode, but given the idea of how they were going to wrap everything up with a neat bow kind of killed a little drama around the actual case at hand.
It is clear this show is designed to be CBS' version of the Peacock hit Poker Face, but this show has still found its own voice and is delivering almost every week.
They have a good small core of castmembers and I hope they dont' expand too much beyond this. Focusing on just 3-4 people makes for much better TV than having all those diversions.
WNBA on ION: Indiana Fever vs. Washington Mystics; Seattle Storm vs. Las Vegas Aces; Dallas Wings vs. Los Angeles Sparks; Minnesota Lynx vs. Phoenix Mercury (2024)
Fever vs. Mystics
With Caitlin Clark fever continuing, albeit in a different way and the media frenzy not dying down, there surely were a lot of eyeballs on this game.
The Washington Mystics have yet to win a game so there was that story as well.
The Indiana Fever prevailed in a hard-fought battle and Clark got the win for her team by finally having the breakout performance people expect. I am sure the internet will overrate this ignoring that it came against the worst team in the league.
A good game regardless which is more reason why people should be watching the WNBA because even the bottom games can be entertaining.
The Big Door Prize: Back in the Saddle (2024)
Episode 206
"Back in the Saddle" showed that even a strong program like The Big Door Prize can have some underwhelming episodes. They focused on a variety of characters even if the main point was to drive home Beau's continued vision, but that could kind of be problematic here. Way too many things going on which made none of them really stand out as noteworthy.
I just hope that they are building to yet another stage. I didn't think they had the visions in them for the second stage so maybe they'll surprise me, but I want a third season only if the Morpho Machine still plays a huge role in the lives of these people.
The Big Door Prize: Rehearsals (2024)
Rehearsals
This was probably the weakest of the season and the first underwhelming one, but even this episode had a lot of standout moments in it.
The Big Door Prize is having a good second season that has somehow found a way to make the Morpho Machine even more relevant in the world.
I just think focusing on the singular character each week is a bad idea and Cas' mother did not need her own plot. We also do not need yet another forced same sex couple just for the sake of hitting a quota.
Tell good stories, and no matter who is in the relationship at the end of the day people will want to keep watching.
