Possessor (2020)
Not an easy watch but a good one...
In todays super hero, disney saturated Hollywood it's always a pleasure to stumble upon a film like this. Yes it's violent (super violent in places) and yes it's different but it's also hard to take your eyes off and it's a film that will leave an impression on you! There is some very striking and disturbing imagery on display but I think it looks fantastic. The acting from the leads is top notch and the sound design adds to the general feel of the film. Yes there are som plot holes but isn't there always??
So if you have the stomach for it I would highly recommend. I look forward to seeing what Cronenburg junior does next!
Athlete A (2020)
The dark side of professional sport
This is another good netflix documentary on a really troubling subject. If you want to see how evil can live amongst us, answering to know one and basically doing what he pleases then watch this. Really disturbing how Larry Nassar was allowed to continue for as long as he did , and for me, the attempted covering up and vouching for him was one of the worst parts of this story. It could/should have been stopped so much earlier. One can only imagine how many girls could have been saved from this monster. The powers at be should be ashamed and held accountable for their actions. Steve Penny pleading the fifth amendment made my blood boil! Same tactic as Jeffery Epstein. Like the prosecutor says at the end, there is a missing piece to this puzzle and that is charges against those that knew. Well done netflix for shining a light on these despicable creatures. And the survivors of this story were all so brave it brought a tear to my eye.
Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich (2020)
The super rich really do what they want...
Just finished watching this. It makes me angry that the super rich can literally do what they want without fear of reprisal. Good Ol Jeff makes a sizable donation to the palm beach police department so let's ignore all these reports of young girls going to his house for massages. And when they did get him to court ,he ends up doing a few lousy months with work release every damn day. I cant imagine the police taking so long to convict a regular joe behaving in this manner and with all the complaints and rumours circulating. And dont get me started on the sentencing! How is Ghislaine, Prince Andrew etc still able to avoid punishment when the same witness has named them in the same seedy circles. How can they possibly be innocent?
All in all I found this documentary very interesting. I like the way netflix are doing these shows. Unsettling music helps to add to the feel of what a nasty piece of work this guy and his associates really are/were. Did he kill himself? I guess we may never know
