Crawlspace (2016)
Boring "Thriller" with Occasional Tense Moment
I always like to give things a chance, but there were so many times I wanted to fast forward. It was just boring.
All of the acting was below average, and the characters-specifically the dad-were very frustrating.
I also have so many questions about the outcome. Mainly, with neighbors so close, why doesn't anyone ever hear anything?
Dr. Death (2021)
Great Cast and Acting... Slow Storytelling
This was almost there for me. The acting was good, and I loved the dynamic between Christian Slater and Alec Baldwin. I wanted to like Joshua Jackson as Christopher but he just didn't do it for me.
I watched the entire series, but I understand why people stopped after episode 1. It's a little bit slow. The non-linear storytelling is also jarring. The time jumps should've been more clear.
At the end of the day, I just think the podcast did a better job reeling in the listeners and building tension and suspense.
I Know What You Did Last Summer (2021)
Slow and Convoluted + What Horrible Friends...
This adaption was so slow after the first episode. It wanted to be a slasher and a cult drama. Honestly it was just too much. The story with the cult was boring and unnecessary.
That aside, I expect drama because the story centers around teenagers, but the flashbacks to the drama at the graduation party got so old fast. I was so sick of these kids.
Plus, they've all known each other since elementary school and STILL can't differentiate between the twins? Maybe that was the point, but they're horrible friends.
Even after their mom returns after TEN years she can tell one twin is not who she says she is.
It was a cool twist at first but in the end it all became so stupid.
And that killer? UGH so absurd. I'm disappointed and wouldn't recommend this to anyone.
It wasn't interesting. It wasn't fun. It wasn't mysterious.
The Twilight Zone: Replay (2019)
A Real Life Nightmare
Don't let the negative reviews keep you from watching this episode. It's hard to watch, but any viewer of the original Twilight Zone knows that the show covered social and political issues.
The episode has me on the edge of my seat all the way through. I wasn't sure exactly how it would. No, there was not a "plot twist," but there didn't need to be.
The acting was great, the writing was good, even the ending still left me unsettled. It lets you know this is a sad reality that some people can't escape.
My only complaint is that it's very strange how easily some of the characters believed the main character when she said she was kept reliving the same moments.
Into the Dark: Down (2019)
Twenty Minites Too Long
I've only seen one other episode on this series ("Flesh & Blood"), and neither episode has impressed me.
"Down" started off very well, got really tense, and then fizzled out. It's only 1 hour and 22 minutes long, but somehow it was STILL too long. I found myself checking the runtime over and over again. It just kept going. I almost wanted to fast forward through it.
Into the Dark: Flesh & Blood (2018)
Disappointing and Silly
Thought this would be better than it was. There was no twist or anything, pretty much just everything the trailer showed you.
Normally I love Dermot Mulroney but his over exaggerated acting in this was just silly. The female lead was fine though.
