Brooklyn (2015)
Hopeful and sweet, but too much insta-love for me
I watched this movie because of the several Oscar nomination it have, and I have to say that I'm not disappointed. Brooklyn can be a slow movie, but for me it was pretty fast-passing and entertaining. I know that the immigrants going for the American dream is something topic in films, but I haven't seen a lot of movies about it, so for me it was all new and beautiful. I really like the performances. I was prejuicious and I thought that the main actress wouldn't do a good job (despite of being nominated for best actress) because she also was also the character in The Host (I liked that movie, but it was cheesy). But oh-my-goodness her portraying of Eilisie was fantastic; she turned an insipid and boring character in something really... lets say artistic. The male character in this movie was very sweet and beautiful and everything, but I just couldn't stand all the insta-love here. Just don't. I don't know why but I wasn't able to believe in the romance on Brooklyn.
Overall, I loved the final message of the immigration and how strong the main character turned out to be.
Under the Dome (2013)
Great at first but ridiculous at the end.
Soo... The first season was pretty good: entertaining, with and interesting topic and relatable characters. I taught that the problems of being under a dome could have been better exploded, but still, the first season was good. Then the second season came, and it was soooo good. I really truly love that season, it was so intense, action-packed and I had all the feels! So after the second season, my hopes were pretty up. When I started the third season, I was so sad the show was canceled... until I actually watched the third season. In it's last season, the show turns ridiculous, and so damn confusing; but not confusing in the good way, I mean confusing like: "I don't understand a sh¡t, let's go watch something else." And I just don't know why to build a good plot in two solid seasons, to throw it all to the trash in the third one. I think the writers were in drugs or something when they wrote the last season; otherwise, I don't see how they could screw it up so badly.
Room (2015)
Totally heart-breaking
This just... this just... This movie just broke me. When I started watching this, I taught it would be sad and everything, but not THIS kind of sad. I mean, I cried in most part of the film. I cried watching a boy eat cereal, that's how powerful this movie is. With a very hard and deep topic, solid performances and the greatest photographer, screen-writers, directors, etc ever, Room will be one of my all-time-favorite-heart-breaking-movies. You want to cry? Just give this movie like, ten minutes, ant then we talk. Another great thing about Room is that, yeah, it's heart-breaking, it deals with a pretty taboo topic and is very real; but at the same tame is fast-passing and its so easy to connect with the characters... And I just love the hopeful message at the end.
This movie was simply too much for me.
The Revenant (2015)
Thecnically good... but noting more
The performances were excellent (Di Caprio does deserves the Oscar this time), the pictures and filming were awesome and everything in general about this movie was "correct". But the plot just wasn't for me. In the second this movie started, I wanted it to end; and since I was watching it online, I watched it at 20-minutes intervals. Boring is not the right word, and I feel like this movie wasn't exactly slow. I think my problem with The Revenant is that I didn't care. I didn't care about what was going on or what was going to happen, because I simply didn't feel attached neither to the story or to the characters. I like action movies, but not when the only thing that happens is basically our main character struggling in the edge of the death for TWO HOURS. I just needed more plot, something interesting going on, and not just Di Caprio making pain faces and surviving in un-human, impossible and almost ridiculous ways. I couldn't relax or actually get into the story during the hole movie. ¿Awesome performances? Yes! Good pictures and scenarios? Of course! It deserves the Oscar's nominations? I guess so. It was "correct", and I actually don't regret even for a second watching this movie, it's obvious all the hard work that is behind The Revenent and the watching is worth it just for that.
But yeah... like I said before: not my kind of movie.
How to Get Away with Murder (2014)
An awesome mind-blowing series!
Okey, so I thought this series wasn't for me because I wasn't really sure about the lawyer buffet and that stuff. But h*lly sh*it, How to get Away with Murder is sooo good. I think you have to start watching the series without knowing much about it, so I 'll just say that is about a law's teacher who basically teaches her students how to get away with murder (with a very specify murder, by the way) In every episode we have this individual crime, and the teacher and a group of students trying to win the case in court. But all the episodes are connected by the principal murder, of weach we see short scenes during the whole season (and of course, by the excellent cast of character that I have learned to love) This show is amazing, I specially recommend it for a marathon, because, my babe, you will never get enough.
Horrible Bosses (2011)
So much FUN!
Look, comedy films are like my drug, so I need them every certain time or I feel like I would explode. This movie was so funny, I couldn't stop laughing. When I started it I wasn't expecting too much, but oh my god this film made my day. HILARIOUS is a huge word for me, but this movie was, in fact, hilariously funny, and without even trying (of course they tried hard to make this movie funny, but while watching it you don't notice, because it's so amazing) The plot and characters are nothing out-of-this-world, but I have so much fun, I laughed so hard and I enjoy myself so badly, that I have to give it 9 hole, beautiful, bright stars.
Game of Thrones (2011)
My favourite series ever!
I'm just gonna say that Game of Thrones is my favourite series of all times. If you want action, fantasy, power games, sex, love and a lot, really a lot of fights and battles, you should watch Game of Thrones. Like, right now. I mean it.
Game of Thrones is the first series I've ever seen in my life, and it obviously have a very special meaning for me; but that's not the only reason because I love GoT. I love Daenerys, and Tyrion, and Arya and a lot of characters; but I hate a lot too. I think it's just axesome how in a sooo large cast of characters the viewer know (and hate or love) every single one of them. I love the way all the story lines crosses in one point and separate in the other, and I love the fact that we, all the fans, have fear as hell that one of our fave characters die in the next episode.
The Middle (2009)
Funny and simple :)
This series is a truly reflexion of the typical American family. They are "poor", but let me tell you that they poor is Latin American's middle class XD but anyway... The Middle is amazing! It's extremely simple, and it don't always make me laugh. But I've found in this series a very comfortable place; and I know that whether I feel sad or whether I feel happy, I can always watch the Middle and be okay with it. I love Axl (my favorite 4ever), but Sue, Brick, Mike and Frankie do they part pretty well, too. Although Frankie exasperates me sometimes, I can't help but love the Hecks.
PD: Sorry for my horrible, terrible English, I'm Latin.
