About Him & Her (2023)
A 2023 movie just made in my top 3 of all time romantic movie list
Honestly I was getting bored in the beginning because of an unusual representation of characters which I wasn't used to. But the brilliant cinematographic art made me keep watching. And by the time being, I started noticing the beauty of it, the storyline progression, the outstanding performance of two main characters made me feel like I'm reading a book and getting lost in imagination but visual representation.
The plot, how I couldn't relate to it exactly but still felt like it's my kinda movie:
I wasn't young enough during telephone days. But this movie left me wishing I was young before this social media, dating apps bs. Being a part of this hook up culture of 2023, I hate to its core and can't even get out of it due to the fear of being lonely and left out. This movie left me feeling romantically empty and wondering whether genuine connections are possible or not in this era, or perhaps it's just me, who's brain was conditioned in the culture where there is high chance that my own subconscious mind is also acting as an enemy of forming one, even if there is a window.
Who should watch this movie:
Anyone who is patient enough to get on with the flow of the movie, anyone who ever is/was in love, anyone who isn't completely lost in today's "dating>partner just hiccuped?>break up>choose from plenty other options" culture!
Aftersun (2022)
I really really... really wanted to like the movie but...
Brilliant acting and that's it! The story? I am sorry, I have never been so bored watching a movie in past few years (probably because I skipped other boring movies and didn't force myself to like it after seeing positive reviews). I literally got angry in the end, specially in one of the last camera panning scene from one side to another side with 0.001x speed. No offence to people who did relate to it and felt emotional. But a movie should be enjoyable regardless of audience relating their life experience with it or not. In the first half an hour, I wondered if it's some disturbing child abuse story. Felt good after realising that it's not and moved on to find contents apart from a father daughter bonding on a vacation. But later realised a sketch worthy of representing in five minutes was elongated for an hour (pretty much for the whole duration) as a movie. Yea I kind of understand the message but to me it is not worthy of a movie if that small message without further contents is all about it.
