Black Wood (2022)

Who were the characters again?

The character development and acting was 90% garbage. My uncle and cousin were extras in this so I suffered thru hoping it would get better. It never did. The scenery is great.. but it shouldn't be! This is a horror film.. and was shot in full sunlight. There is fog during intense moments but it doesn't fit the scene / lighting and isn't consistent. The woods should be dark and overcast during the day.

Near the beginning a man eats a dead dear raw in a field as the female casually rides by. It's like we turned the channel to The Walking Dead and back again quick. It's moronic! By the end of the movie I didn't have a connection with any of the characters. If you're reading this.. just skip it! It's a couple hours of your life you'll never get back! If you're my uncle or cousin.. sorry guys! It's not your fault!

Was hoping for SO much more than what this delivered

I will admit the thing that drew me to this was Gina simply because she was cancelled from Disney for not being "Woke". I also love a good western. However, the character development was not good. When pretty much anyone can die in the movie and the audience isn't affected... it's not believable. The acting leaves a lot to be desired as well... even from Gina. Her and her two children could be killed any second, and she's calmly teaching an already calm 9 year old son how to make coffee. The act itself isn't unbelievable as it would be good to try to keep him calm.. but their demeanor is WAY off.

As others mentioned, a rattle snake moving about in the winter doesn't happen. Their bodies are dormant in the cold (as all cold blooded creatures.) The action is soo unbelievable it was hard to watch. Dozens of shots between the good and the bad guys miss their mark completely at 15 to 20 yards away. These are supposed to be military trained men with rifles and the woman has a shotgun! The men weren't even behind cover.. standing wide out in the open.

The fathers character is never developed to the point that the audience would miss him should he be killed. Considering the plot.. I think this is a huge error.
