Game of Thrones: Stormborn (2017)
Rushed & Predictable
I'm a huge Game of Thrones fan, but I can't help but feel extremely disappointed after watching these two episodes.
What happened to the seamless story progression Game of Thrones had from season 1 to season 6? It's been completely abandoned. Yes, I am aware the season has been cut down to 7 episodes, but the transitioning throughout this episode as well as episode 1 has been atrocious. One scene we have Daenerys requesting for a letter to be sent to Jon Snow, and in the scene following right after that, Jon snow reads the letter! Talk about rushing!
The notion I get from this is that we'll have more slow paced and choppy story progression up until the final couple of episodes. A template for all generic 1-6 star TV shows. Such a shame really. Clearly the writer's are struggling to continue this show. It has most certainly become apparent in these first two episodes.
Fortunately though, the TV show is coming to an end. If it were to go on past season 8 they would have completely destroyed this show like the writer's for Dexter season 6 and beyond did.
Such a shame really.
Frontier: The Gallows (2016)
Wow... so awful!
Unbelievably terrible season finale. Generic, predictable and a very unsatisfying death of Lord Benton. Harp, who is made out to be this monstrous person - not so monstrous. He was basically handicapped for half the season and just "disappears" before being shot! On top of all of that, they have the nerve to end it with a cliff hanger? Seriously? The worst part is, the cliff hanger wasn't even executed well. 1/10 because it severely lacked creativity, but overall the season was somewhat entertaining.
Mr. Robot: eps2.9_pyth0n-pt2.p7z (2016)
Will not be watching on a week-to-week basis next season
Mr. Robot should have ended at S1 because S2 is a complete u-turn. The show is no longer targeted at the general viewer but viewers that have a high tolerance for the shows ridiculously slow story progression, theory enthusiasts, and viewers that love 'emotional development' (by that I mean the ever-so frequent 5 minute long stares characters like Angela are seen doing).
Season 2 overall is not a season for the average viewer. From the get go you will notice the massive (and negative) change from S1 to S2 in terms of the exaggerated cinematography, extreme lack of story progression, and misuse of emotional development as mentioned above. You will find yourself painfully forcing your way through the first 5 episodes for the story-line to actually begin, and by the end of the season you will ask yourself -- "did I really just put myself through those painful episodes for that?".
Ultimately, I will not be watching this show on a week-to-week basis as I have done since season 1. With that said, I feel absolutely no excitement to watch season 3. And I will most likely stop watching it completely if they continue with this new approach.
Fix up. Your rating is going down for a reason.
