Eastwick (2009–2010)
8/10
Eastwick is easy, likable and fun! I'm hooked.
14 October 2009
Yes, at times the story is predictable and some characters are cliché, but the show is straight-up fun to watch. There's plenty of "girls nights," embarrassing situations, fun flirtations and female empowerment. The writers have managed to developed interesting, likable leading female characters, each with their own quirks and unique perspectives.

The magic portrayed in each episode is subtle enough that it could possibly be seen as coincidence, which is a nice touch. My only qualm so far is that there aren't any well-developed and likable male leads. However, definitely give Eastwick a chance. At least watch the first few episodes, they are much better than the pilot. They just might get you hooked!!!!

The Ten (2007)
6/10
Disappointing, but still funny
25 July 2007
I love David Wain. From his work in Stella, to "Wet Hot American Summer," and all the way back to the State but, I'm sorry to say "The Ten," was not his best.

The first story was probably the worst, but it didn't get much better. The humor is much like that found in a Stella skit, but each story premises is so ridiculous that they don't carry the viewer to the end, and most of the stories don't feel resolved, nor do they flow very well. Drawing out one funny idea into a 10 minute story gets boring fast.

But to be fare there were many funny scenes. I would watch the film all over again just to see Janeane Garofalo freaking out in a Nuclear Power plant, or Rob Corddrey hitting on Ken Marino in the prison yard, and Kerri Kenney doing...anything, and that goes for Paul Rudd as well. They're just funny.

Shopgirl (2005)
4/10
Not worth ten dollars
28 November 2005
Generally, I don't have a problem with slow-paced movies, but unfortunately Shopgirl was a little too slow. I was definitely bored throughout the film. Besides a good ending, and Jason Shwartzman as the much needed comic relief, (I even thought Claire Danes was very good) there were just too many things that didn't gel. Mostly Steve Martin's scenes felt awkwardly timed (and a little creepy.) The bizarrely out-of-place narration completely took me out of the story all together. If he was going for a fairytale sort of thing the narration should have played a much larger part in the movie. Overall, the film was way so slow.
