Mother's Meat & Freud's Flesh (1984)
The film ages well with time
21 years ago the film was irritating, painful and even embarrassing to watch. Upon a recent re-screening of the film I have found that time has been very kind to it. In fact it is a whole different and competent film in the year 2005. In 1984 it was something stuck in the twilight between John Waters "in bad taste", and art-house gay European cinema that was in its heyday during the early to mid 1980's, throw in a bit of the Andy Warhol, Paul Morrissey, Factory NYC underground "Super Star" system of casting with regards to Esther Vargas, "Mother's Meat" female lead. Now the film stands on it own with some time and distance form those other schools of gender cinema. "Mother's Meat& Freud's Flesh" number 3 fan and its director, Demetri Estdelacropolis
