The Glass Castle (2017)
Wonderfully written, Brilliantly acted movie that will aggravate, anger and break your heart
Based off of Jeannette Walls' memoir, the movie chronicles her life from childhood to adulthood. The turmoils and tribulations of growing up with free-spirited parents that also have their own demons.
This is a well acted movie... Brie Larson, Woody Harrelson, Naomi Watts, and Ella Anderson (who plays a young Jeannette) were brilliant. The pace of the movie is relatively even toned. I think the frustration that viewers may encounter has more to do with the context and material of the movie vs. the pace. Speaking of the content and material of the movie, there are times you are bound to feel aggravated, anger and heart-broken due to the circumstances that the children endure.
All in all, it's a great movie that will break your heart at times, but that reflects life.
The Good Fight (2017)
Well written and Brilliantly Acted Drama
The Good Fight is a drama series that infuses politics with current social commentary and a touch of humor. it is well written and brilliantly acted. Christine Baranski and Cush Jumbo are wonderful to watch.
Royally Ever After (2018)
Insipid Writing, Annoying Dialogue and Overacting
Hallmark movies are usually a lovely balance of sweet and cheesy, as well as good writing. This was not the case with Royally Ever After. Truly insipid writing, which resulted in annoying and terrible dialogue... and at times, awful overacting by the lead actress. Bottom line: Disappointing.
Winter's Dream (2018)
Hallmark is great, but this movie is terrible due to BAD ACTING!
While the premise of the Heart of the Mountain's story line seemed promising, the acting of Kristy Swanson and Dean Cain were terrible. They tried way too hard to be "sweet". It (unfortunately) came off as blatantly fake and unlikable... and after 20 minutes, it became dreadfully unwatchable. Hallmark - please don't use these actors again.
Christmas Incorporated (2015)
Unfortunately, a Hallmark DUD
I adore hallmark movies, especially during the holidays. While some may view them as cheesy and cliché, I think they are sweet and heart warming (though quite predictable). This movie, though, was dreadfully terrible. The story plot was not bad in itself, but the writing was blah. What made the film truly fail was the lack of chemistry between the two leads. It was overwhelming obvious that if either lead had a choice of being stuck on a desert island with their costar or being stuck alone, they would choose the latter. I've seen the lead actor Steve Lund in other projects, and he's okay, but this is first time I've seen the actress Shenae Grimes-Beech and her acting in this project was way over-the-top (i.e. trying way too hard). Alas... all of it added up to awfulness. I recommend that you take a pass on this.
The only bright star in this film is Jane Moffat. She did a lovely job.
