Doctor Who: The Timeless Children (2020)
Wow! Don't listen to the haters.
In brief. The most powerful and suspenseful fanalie in new who. I do still have questions but those.questions will keep me watching.
I loved it, I love who and i loved this, i mean where is it written in previous seasons that none of this can fit in the canon. The timelords did this sort of thing all the time and now we've learned the history and origins of the time lords. And for the doctor to be the foundations in witch the timelords were born. Explains why they secretly resented him/her whilst at the same time respecting him/her enough to save his/her life.
So powerful and an awesome all be it frustrating cliffhanger.
Just dont listen to the haters, everyone has there opinion but to call it crap and damp or whatever is just blind. Doctor who is about adventure and change or regeneration and the show just regenerates every now and then and takes us in a new and interesting direction. Please don't bring this show down. It's still doctor who just with a different face.
Doctor Who: Nikola Tesla's Night of Terror (2020)
Really enjoyable!
The chibnall era does do one thing consistently. It pays deserved respect to the historical figures introduced in the show. Tesla deserved recognition in his day and without his vision of the future, who knows where we would be. He saw the future and it was stolen from him. Tonight's who respects the man and presents to us a man we feel for and a man ahead of his time. If anyone was going to help the doctor and TARDIS fam defeat an alien invasion, he'd be there perfect pick. The villains in this episode were very well produced and there scenes quite realistic yet chilling, however, I hope it was an accident that the queen of the giant scorpions bared a striking resemblance to that of another female leader of another giant insect race! Empress of the raknos might have something to say about that. All round, solid episode, really enjoyed it and well worth a re watch. Good performances all round, great production value and holds the essence of some classic Doctor WHO.
Doctor Who: Orphan 55 (2020)
Not amazing but good Who!
In a nutshell. Whilst watching I was beginning to feel a sence of s11 ep5, the whatsit conundrum or whatever but, as it builds our expectations are subverted. Theres some daft dr who trying to be typical dr who too much moments but once the all be it mild action takes off, theres a couple of nice twists and turns in there. In short, not sure about the presentation or directing but the story wasn't too bad and it was a nice little play on the idea that time is in a constant state of flux and the future isn't written in stone. Not amazing but good who, better than we've had.
The Walking Dead: The Calm Before (2019)
Holy s**t!!!!
Never trust a happy episode of the walking dead. The only one that lasted was when we met Jesus and look what happend to him in the end! A step away from the usual shock brutality of a character death. This was a subtle build up to a chilling and shocking reveal near the end of episode 15. My God!! So sooo unexpected, heartbreaking but made with taste and style this show sometimes lacks of late. Just a perfectly heart wrenching episode. I really still cant get my head around who we lost!! Bloody hell!! Negans got nothing on Alpha!! Watch it, but not alone like I did with no one to scream at!! 😂😂
The Walking Dead: The Storm (2019)
Winter is here!!
Glad to finally see some actual winter in twd outside of the comics! Brilliant episode, very well put together and brilliantly performed not least from Jeffery dean Morgan. Negan and Judith are brilliant together!! Snow and walkers, cheeky teese for thrones I wonder 😜. My personal favourite season so far though. 9 has been a welcome breath of fresh air from after the soap opera that was season 8!
Doctor Who: Resolution (2019)
Yes yes yes!!!!
Honestly I'm getting sick and tired of all these people that just want to hate doctor who at the moment, not even trying to look at the positives and take it for what it is, there are some of us enjoying this. This was without a doubt the best of the series and more like a fanalie than what we got in episode 10. It was a great way to bring back a Dalek without them just always being there like we had with Moffat. The music needs some work but the whole feel of the episode felt like a movie. The most threatening the Daleks have felt and not just inside there shell but outside aswell and my god that fight with the army was awesome!! Yes the last series was up and down but this is the first doctor who in chibnalls reign with a familiar doctor who threat, if we get more old school who threats next year with this kind of on screen treatment then I am so ready for more. Resolution was intence, action packed, well directed and filmed and outside of that, a brilliant side story between rian and his old man. Fantastic.
Doctor Who: Demons of the Punjab (2018)
'Getting history right again!!'
I got a little concerned last week that maybe we had seen the best of this series early on, last week was ok, not the worst episode but not the best. Tonight just wowed me, beautifully written, directed and filmed. Fealt like the real deal and finally a story for yaz. Doctor who travelling back in time was always meant to be a little history lesson for us all and in the last few years, we've seen Winston Churchill fight daleks and the silence, Vincent van gough fight invisible monsters and president nixon help figh, well the silence again. Then we get rosa, rosa was playing the part in history she always did, we learned something about that moment in history and came away loving it. Tonight we learned, if only a little about the partition of India and the sacrifices made, again with an alien twist but one that was there to watch over the events of history and watch over the forgotten dead, I think this is how it should be, I little history lesson whilst trying to keep history going where it should go and the doctor respecting that history and just there to whiteness it, not landing in a time, and oh look there's aliens here so let's tell a massively important historical figure everything about them and the future, use them to help me fight and give him/her the number for the tardis. Chibnalls reign Is looking strong although I should note he didn't actually write this episode but doctor who is finally getting history right again!! It's about time.
Doctor Who: Rosa (2018)
Beautiful, really enjoyed it.
In my opinion. One of the best yet. Finally a WHO that goes to the past and is just about the history of that time, yes sure a touch of sci fi for there to be a reason to be there but it respected Rosa Parks legacy and tought any unaware kids/adults about what she did and just how important she was. 'A living icon for freedom'. All round, I thought, well written, well filmed, well scored and well performed.
(Side query, where did they all get a change of clothes? They haven't made it back to Sheffield yet). Never mind, loved it.
