Jurassic World Dominion (2022)
A little disappointed
I was 4 when I watched my first ever movie in theatre, JP which has since been a childhood favourite to date and I've always made it a point to watch JP and the sequels every 1-2yrs. I had such high expectations for the epic conclusion, but left the cinema feeling disappointed. The plot was too stretched out unnecessarily with so much focus on the locusts instead of the Dino. No real battle between the Dino and humans. 80% of scenes are taken from all the previous 5 movies and put together for the conclusion. No original thoughts, lack of thrill and excitement except for the last 30mins of the movie which happens to be a remake of JP.
The only saving grace was the OG casts, it was nostalgic to see them together 30yrs later. The cinematography and visuals were excellent as we would expect, but that's that. I really wished they had taken a different approach considering how the prequel ended at the Lockwood estate.
Go watch it for the effects and if you're a fan. But don't have high expectations. I came home and decided to watch JP 1 & 2 to make me feel better.
Sefirin Kizi (2019)
Toxic Love Story - Great Casts
Chanced upon this show and decided to give it a shot after reading the reviews.
The main leads in the TV just doesn't cut it for me, Nare and Gediz seem to have better chemistry. Unlike Nare and Sancar, their love affair is so toxic from the very beginning. A man who has trust issues isn't worth the time. Nare has gone through so much and she's constantly miserable whereas Sancar gets away justifying his every action. He clearly has issues and doesn't treat all the women in his life well (Nare, menekshe, his mum) and comes across narcissistic always wanting things his way. Not to mention his unpredictable temperament. Sick of watching the way he treats Nare, constantly inflicting pain and dictating her life.
It's ok for a show, but in reality a relationship like this is toxic in every level and extremely damaging to the kid growing up with parents like them. There's nothing epic about their love, I only see misery. I would like to see Nare end up with Gidez who is always there by her side and gives her all that she needs (trust, love, care, comfort, understanding) most importantly he loves and appreciates her. That's just what Nare needs, that likely won't happen so I'll eventually stop watching at some point because I'm only watching for Nare and Gediz who makes the show worthwhile.
#NareandGediz pls
Siyah Beyaz Ask (2017)
Gripping Storyline, unique and unpredictable! Best TV Show to date
So I chanced upon SBA during quarantine and was compelled to leave a review (my first ever review written on a tv show) Upon reading the raving reviews I decided to give it a shot.
The first 30mins is all it took and I was hooked. I was at the edge of my seat for every episode, literally sleep deprived trying to watch as many episodes as possible. Here's a little analysis of the story and why I love this show.
Firstly, let's give it up for the main leads Birce and Ibrahim (Asli and Fermat) who delivered stellar performance right from the start to the end. Their chemistry was off the charts, nothing like I've seen before. Their story felt true that it plays with your emotions. The intensity of the show was consistent throughout except for some annoying track in Ep 25-28.
Asli - to me the potrayal of Asli's character by far is the best I've seen in any TV Shows. Unlike the common tales we get in soaps, Asli was a strong, or shall I say the most powerful character in the show. She was a successful Doctor, level headed, vocal yet she's also a elegant, demure and a refined woman with beautiful heart who seeks to help anyone in need but would never allow anymore to mistreat her. Despite being forced into marrying a stranger or rather a ruthless Hitman and joining a corrupted family, she wastes no time throwing pity party or playing victim in a fully dysfunctional and toxic family home. On the contrary, she remained strong, determined and extremely tough with her words and actions towards everyone, yet she knows how to show compassion. While she was determined to incarcerate Ferhat and Namik, she realises there's much to life when Ferhat makes her live through painful moments. The scene in episode 4 of Ferhat exposing her BF was beautifully depicted. (One May not be as clean as we perceive, only because he's a white collar and behaves well). In the same episode we see how Ferhat shows her people can turn dark given the circumstances. Along the way, she learns to understand Ferhat for his complex behaviour, understanding his formation during his troubled childhood and showing him the path by being a dominant. What's interesting about Asli is the fact she was taken captive physically, however emotionally she was dominating Ferhat with her words and bold actions. The whole show is associated with Stockholm Syndrome which is somehow true, but Asli is a girl who also came from a dysfunctional family. Her brother being the only family, she quickly understood the love Ferhat had for his family and the pain that was hidden beneath his tough and rough exterior. She eventually falls in love and her longing of Ferhats love was justified given that she had no one left. There was never a dull moment and her character was built well throughout the show, a strong courageous and intelligent woman who deals with every situation under extreme pressure.
Ferhat is a complex character and can easily be associated for being a Narcissistic Sociopath. This is visible in his domineering character , constantly wanting to be in control to feel powerful, giving orders and not trying to understand others . Ferhat is shown to be inconsistent with his behaviour due to his own emotional battle and this is psychologically true in reality . There was many layers to his complex character and eventually it is shown why he is the way he is dark, ruthless and tough.Ferhat is a character that is emotionally challenged and Doesn't know how to express himself owing to his past.
Unlike other Turkish shows, all the supporting casts in SBA was equally phenomenal. All the characters had depth, each had a story, pain and journey where they evolved after Asli's presence at the house challenging status quo. Right from Namik, to the family members including the helpers, everyone had a beautiful role to play in this show. Each and everyone character was good and strong in their respective roles.
All in all, do watch it and be careful because the show will play with your emotions. I had that feeling on hungover for days upon completing it. Watch it for sure!
Thappad (2020)
No one has the right to abuse their partner!
I'm not one to write movie reviews often, but this one is worthy of a review. I've read so many reviews on this page, while I'm not judging because everyone is entitled to their opinion.
If we look further and dive into the depth of the characters, let's further understand and acknowledge why the protagonist filled for a divorce. After the incident, she was left hurt, embarrassed and violated by the very partner whom she had invested all her life into. What follows after the slap is what matters. The protagonist husband was fast asleep and the next day he was trying to justify his actions instead of apologising. That's a huge'Red Flag' when one cant take accountability of his/her wrong doings and go on to justify their behaviour which was apparent in the following days. She was visibly upset for days and tried to go on living with her daily live, during which he failed to notice her pain. During those days, he was so consumed with his work, it was always about him that he never made an effort to reconcile and make it up to the wife.
Next, when she decided to leave to her parents, he made it seem like she was blowing things out of proportion over a 'simple' matter. Again, the male protagonist doesn't seem to notice he had hurt his wife. When she announced her pregnancy he was quick to share how this has been part of 'his' future goals instead of 'their' goals. He goes on to pick up his diary, excitedly pointing out all 'his' goals set for the year, putting aside the ongoing legal battle which was likely to get ugly. His reaction to what was supposedly the most amazing news certainly left her in disbelieve. Evidently, there was a sharp piercing pain in her eyes at that very moment. Perhaps if he had made an effort to sincerely apologise and show some affection to the wife and talked about their future together, chances are she may have withdrawn the divorce notice. Unfortunately, once again it was really about 'his goals' and 'his dreams' and 'his needs'. Sure enough he did realise at the climax of the movie, but he lacked empathy by disregarding her emotions throughout which led to her making a decision to end the marriage. At least that's what I saw, the reason for the marriage ending. It wasn't merely a slap that not only violated her modesty, but a different side of his personality unfolded. He wasn't a bad husband, but he had failed to notice her feelings and acknowledge her emotions. All in all, "It's A Great story and a powerful message to be shared for all those in a relationship. Respect works both ways, without respect a relationship is merely a compromise. Everyone is deserving of their own happiness without having to constantly make sacrifices in the name of fulfilling duties to others. You can't make others happy when you aren't happy yourself. Period! All the multiple characters were well played, especially the protagonist doting father who stood by his daughter's decision be it right of wrong. The character of the helper and lawyer was a powerful one too. Well done team 'Thapaad'
Dangal (2016)
Yet another masterpiece from Aamir khan!!
All i can say here, when in doubt watch a Aamir Khan movie because you know you cant go wrong. He doesn't make much movies, but when he does it gets you talking about his movies for as long as one can.. what more movies like 3Idiots/Ghajini/Lagaan etc which has gone down as one of the finest movies in the Indian Cinema. Back to Dangal, it's by far one of the best biopics ever made over the years. No doubt there were a lot of good movies made in 2016, but this movie was a perfect closure for the year 2016.
Absolutely loved every single bit of the movie right from the direction, screenplay and dialogues were kept real. The movie was gripping right from the start and progressed on the 2nd half. One may forget that you were watching a movie. I know nothing about wrestling nor am i a fan, but this movie will keep you hooked up till the very end. Those girls were absolutely brilliant in their respective roles and well as for Aamir.. He had once again delivered a stupendous performance. The message was clear, gold medalists are not made , they are nurtured . It requires sheer dedication, grit, discipline, support and right attitude to get there and this movie was perfection. So much love for the entire team for an excellent execution and terrific performance. Standing ovation!!
Pink (2016)
Standing Ovation for addressing social issues!! Real and relevant
A NO from women is a NO, regardless of who you are. No one has the rights to force themselves on women be it spouse/friends or whatever relationship one can think of.Despite the growing differences amongst millenials , there are some things that never change, that is to respect women. No one is superior than the other. It was an outstanding movie with real and relevant content. The storyline was gripping and relatable to real life scenarios many women face to date in many parts of the world.Despite the vast generation gaps, the society remains patriarch in the male dominated world. The movie was highly educational and a great platform to raise social awareness.A story deserving of standing ovation.Wishing them many accolades in the near future for a great team work, cast & production. It was kept simple and real.Hope this story would garner as many awards possible. MUST WATCH!!
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016)
Judge for yourself, worth the watch!! Beautiful story..
This movie is meant for open minded people who do not always expect logic. Now come on,80% of the movies produced globally doesn't have logical content.Saying that, im also not denying the rights and others take on this movie. To put it simply, it's a heartfelt love story that was written an executed pretty well. There wasn't much cliché moments such as having extended family members or the main lead,s bff get8ting involved in their life. The movie revolved around the main characters and RK/anushka aced their respective roles. I've not been a RK fan, however credit should be given when its due.I thought that RK was at his absolute best and he portrayed a young happy go lucky brat who lived a carefree life, only to turn into a madly in love man who lost his senses and himself.I must say that these things do actually happen in real life, esp to the millenials.I have seen people going through such heartbreaks. It is a matter of perspective on how the audience is accepting the storyline. As for me, i appreciate great talent and good stories and it definitely was a sweet love story.Loved Anushka in her character. The main protagonists being RK n Anushka, stole the show completely. Ash was indeed super stunning, however the presence in the movie didn't have much of an impact, for me at least. Her character was quite feeble. For those who appreciate talents and good art work, you may find the movie worth the watch. Its a beautiful movie.
Baar Baar Dekho (2016)
Ome time watch!!
Baar baar dekho is decent enough for a one time watch. I wouldn't want to focus on what went wrong with the movie though i must admit i was starting to get a little bored with the time leap only to figure out that he was a time traveller. Some of the scenes were quite predictable . However, there were some wisdom imparted in these movie, which were the need to strike a balance between career and family. The character of Jai goes to show his sheer obsession of wanting to be a math genius and go places. What he did not realize, he was so lost in his own world that the family was neglected, not getting enough attention from him. I bet these are common traits amongst young adults these days. We've become so consumed in wanting tp acquire success and work so hard leaving behind those little things that actually matters at the end of life. The movie is an eye opener for people who are constantly chasing for success without having a healhty balance. Diya on the other hand was shown as a very understanding n loving wife despite all the struggle she was going through. All in all, the message was pretty clear and the characters played by the two main lead was feeble. Give it a shot if you would like to judge for yourself. This is my take on the movie, opinions of others may vary.
Kapoor & Sons (2016)
Beautiful family drama-watch it with your family to appreciate the movie.
I simply thought this movie deserves a good review. The movie turned out to be a pleasant surprise for me as I wasn't keeping my expectations high after the last movie by dharma production 'Shandaar'( starring Alia Bhatt n Sharif kapoor)which turned out to be a total disappointment.
This movie will definitely stir your emotions and bring back some childhood memories. It's a story of a simple household with a dysfunctional family where everyone has to deal with their own problems. Parents are always arguing, differences between 2siblings where one son feels neglected and attention was always given to the older sibling (Fawad khan). What I loved about the movie is the chemistry of both the brothers (Fawad khan) and (siddharth malhotra). It seemed like there were so much tension and unhappiness brewing between the two where they don't engage much. However as the story progressed, it was revealed that they were just like any other grown up siblings who have their differences. However, it's also shown despite all the problems within the family, the duo did share some good times.Loved the little arguments btw the brothers and how they come together and share quality time with their grandfather. Rishi kapoor on the other hand is the icing on the cake. His humours would tickle your heart.Alia Bhatt on the other hand was a free spirited girl who's living life like any other girl her age. There are some good values in this movie to take away 1) every family has problems, 2) forgive & forgetting are part of life 3) siblings do fight, but blood is thicker than water 4)accepting a child for what they are without imposing your ideas of a 'perfect child' 5) treating every child equally to ensure your child doesn't feel neglected 6)appreciate your family when they are around 7) make time for your loved one's because tomorrow is never a guarantee.
All in all, the climax of the movie was not something I had anticipated. The producers definitely knew how to get the viewers attention and what would have seemed more realistic. Its a movie that will churn your emotions, make you laugh and leave you with tears.Worth watching and it's so far a great movie by its genre for 2016. All the characters were well played equally and they deserve some accolades.I'll give it a 9..!!
Neerja (2016)
Sonam could finally redeem her name!! Nicely done-just watch movie
I've been looking fwd to watch this movie from the time the trailer was released. The trailer n content did seem promising, however considering it was a woman eccentric movie, i really wasn't expecting much.Little did i know it was based on true event. While watching the movie, one can definitely feel the tension and you tend to resonate with the whole situation, forgetting you're watching a movie. It was indeed an heroic act by the late neerja, hats off to her!! I have never been a fan of sonam as to me she's been a wannabe or just a fashionista. But hey i changed my mind now. Her performance was commendable. Sonam did justice to her character by bringing it alive in the movie.Shabana azmi should be applauded..she portrayed the agony of a mother n i could instantly feel the pain a mother goes through knowing her child is in danger. Must say the entire team has done a great job by documenting the tragic incident that happened back in 1986, n they took blessings from the deceased family. It's never easy making a story of a real person who lost her life, relentlessly trying to save lives of 360 hostage on-board..loved the part how she acted out fast n brilliantly under the most unusual circumstances by alerting the pilot's n also insisting on having the cabin crews to collect the passport to only hide away all the American passports..watching this movie reminded me of the recent tragedy of the missing flight of MH370 that hasn't yet gotten any closure..do watch the movie to pay tribute and respect to an untold story of a young brave heart that should be known to the world.
Sanam Teri Kasam (2016)
Heart touching love story...beautiful piece!!!
Here's a little bit abt what I felt watching this movie..I wasn't even interested to check out more abt the movie as I was browsing through to check on the recent release..I simply love movies n I'm an ardent fan of Bollywood!! having said that, i choose to ignore after reading the plot n not knowing the casts. However a colleague of mine, he's a good movie critic n he told me it was an awesome movie. I definitely couldn't agree more after watching it for myself. I was left in awe watching this debut duo..what a mind blowing performance by both the leads. The music can touch your soul and I literally am in love with all the songs. Now coming back to the lead pair,i would have nt expected a stupendous performance from a fresh new face..they were far more amazing n talented than any of those commercialized hero n heroines who's just famous..speaking of acting, these 2(harshvardhan rane n mawra hocane)is what I call a real talent. Mind u,i teared throughout the movie n went back watching it 3x in a row n it was so worth it..honestly nothing great abt the story line. it's the chemistry btw the leads is what makes the movie worthwhile watching..It's a must watch movie to appreciate.
The Revenant (2015)
Yet another brilliant performance by DiCaprio!! Movie of the year!!!
I don't usually write review's, bt i couldn't resist from doing so. As everyone already know DiCaprio is an exceptional actor of the century. However this movie n his acting was beyond excellence. The execution was mind blowing and the way the character was depicted was simply unbelievable. Mind you, this movie isn't meant for the weak as some scenes are really gory. I decided to take a look on the bts,n i was astounded to know he actually did eat all those disgusting raw meats on sets.. (that's not a joke)n sleeping is a horse carcass.. (who on earth can even think of doing something like that in real life, let alone for movies)..But yes, DiCaprio certainly did the impossible.I've always been a fan of true story, though some stories are altered by movie makers to give it a boost!! All I can say, he deserves all the awards on earth for this movie..Bravo!!!its a must must watch for movie goers.
