So moving and inspiring
11 January 2021
I don't remember crying this much in the recent memory. So emotional and inspiring - Claire truly was one of a kind. Her view of death reminded me a lot of the way that stoics viewed it - we do not fear death, we fear that we didn't live our lives fully till the day the death arrives, so we should live as if death is already at our door, because it is. Thank you, Claire, for doing what you did and for inspiring millions of people around the world, especially the ones who are sick, you will not be forgotten.

A really great debut
9 January 2021
This film encompasses what it was like during the 1600s when religion was the main force that ruled over humans. Instead of uniting them, religion, more often than not, did exactly the opposite - that is the product of humanity's lack of truly understanding what religion is about and how to live in agreeance with its nature and God. Seven members of the family each represent one of the seven deadly sins, and it's fitting that they all end up accordingly to them. This film shows that believing in God and praying each night is not what religion is about - it's about being honest with yourself and others around you, and working your way to build strong relationships, both with yourself and others, which each character in this film failed to do - instead, they kept it inside and ended up severing the bonds between each other, all in their own unique way. Overall, this was an incredible debut from Robert Eggers, who continued to deliver with "The Lighthouse", and I can't wait to see what he does next. 8/10
