Rock Around the Block (2014 TV Movie)
9/10
A good fun glimpse of those 'wannabees' who tried for success at a local level.

I thought this was a really entertaining, small town 'rockumentary' with some fun spoof performances. Some of the songs were surprisingly good, and many different musical genres were included. The idea of past musical experts looking at songs from the future, and their reactions, was highly original, particularly so when the acts parodied performances from their own era. For me, the three most memorable songs were 'Pretty Girl' and 'Just for one day', I loved the Gothic band and the soul song at the end. The compère and panelists gave great performances, as did the 'cheesy' 1970s style DJ. All in all, this is an interesting and worthwhile production from a local history society, showcasing songwriting talent from its town.
