Barry: ronny/lily (2019)
This is one of the best episodes I have seen on TV
I cannot praise this episode enough. The fight choreography, stunts, cinematography, acting, and dear God, the comedy are all stellar. I can't remember when I laughed this hard. I have suggested people watch the show so they can get to this episode. Boy howdy Hader is talented
Borderlands 3 (2019)
Enjoyable enough, but not as charming
I'll get the good out of the way first. Game play, variety of guns, interesting environments, fun monsters, better customization, and more in-depth skill trees. This game has so much going for it where I genuinely enjoy the game enough to replay it a few times.
Slight caveat however, I'll only listen to my own music or podcasts. I can not stand how much pointless dialogue there is that you HAVE to sit through. Every line, there's a joke that you can see coming from a mile away or some nonsense RaNdOm humor. Ever gotten tired of Corporations being relatable on Twitter? This game is that but several years late. Theres a few specific instances that come to mind; a discoverable location is called Big Dock Energy and another instance where you can find two "Hidden" bosses based off Rick and Morty. I groaned when I saw both of these because it felt less like an easter egg or homage and more like a Corporation asked the young guy in the office what kids like.
I haven't even touched on the bugs, which are still prevalent 9 months after release. I wouldn't classify any of them game breaking, but immersion breaking for sure. "Follow this slow moving character" I would if they didn't clip through the floor and make me reload the game.
The story is nonexistent for me. First time a BL story has not interested me in the slightest. The main antagonists are boring and unlikeable, but its not from a lack of trying. I don't want to compare them to Handsome Jack because not many villains will be able to top him anyways, I find comparing them difficult though because it seems like they are trying to reimagine Handsome Jack but as a duo with really no motivation. Your motivation to stop them is because they are annoying and grating, unlike Jack who quickly manages to catch your intrigue and ire. I don't feel its fair to compare them to Handsome Jack, but its hard not to when there feels like they were trying to emulate it.
Ultimately, I have plenty of complaints but they could be chalked up to me changing taste or nitpicking. I have had fun and I don't regret the purchase, but I wouldn't blame someone for not wanting to try it out. There is plenty for many, but not everything is for me.
