Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga (2020)
Music shines through the zaniness
Watch the film and then listen to the music by itself or vice versa
The zaniness of the film is something to behold and possibly closer to a real Eurovision experience than some might think or want to believe.
Songs like Ja Ja ding dong have quirkiness that wouldn't win Eurovision but would be better than the song that wins and Husavik is incredible in its own right - powerful and passionate
Good casting, interesting plot and story, a couple of factual ambiguities but overall a really good and quite uplifting film to watch
You don't need to necessarily pay attention to all of it but you probably should.
Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020)
Lucky that all the preposterous coincidences happened
The first half is boring and the second half is almost as boring. It's staggering a film can have to little happen to further the story with is finish in the extreme anyway.
Yes, it tells a story through Harley's eyes but if that's the only positive then clearly it's not a good film.
I ignored the reviews and gave it a chance but an average of 6/10 is generous.
The film has no imaginative storyline whatsoever and can be summed up by one thing that happens in the second half - you'll know it when it happens - because nothing is mentioned about it but it completely changes everything.
Villains (2019)
Watchable
Not really a horror, barely a thriller and not a good comedy, but a decent drama
Interesting premise overall but an eye rolling and predictable ending.
Last Christmas (2019)
Boring and lifeless
Very slow to get into, is easily forgettable and doesn't keep the attention for long.
Good film to have on in the background at a Christmas event where no one will be watching it.
Disappointing to the very ending twist which was ruined in the films own promotional material.
Dark Side of the Ring (2019)
Very interesting regardless of whether you like wrestling or not
10/10 for wrestling fans and 8/10 for those who are intrigued by the wrestling world.
Definitely worth watching.
Great documentary showing the tragic and real events that occurred within various wrestling organisations over a wide time period.
The Emily Atack Show (2020)
Not worth the watch
Watched a bit and wasn't impressed, but persevered in case that was a blip. It wasn't a blip. It's painful to watch and it's cringeworthy in its attempt of comedy.
The Midnight Sky (2020)
Didn't live up to expectations, but a good film nonetheless
Midnight sky is a good film, it's quite harshly judged for various reasons, but it is a good film. It's quite raw and there's lots of things going on at once and if they were tied in better it would perhaps be a better film. It's raw, emotional and entertaining. Definitely one to watch, just allow yourself to watch it without thinking of the negative reviews
Bolt (2008)
An easy and funny family watch
The voice actors could've been better as Travolta probably wasn't the best option and Miley probably wasn't the best either. The premise is slightly flawed as Bolt 'only does one take' and doesn't notice boom mic operators, etc. But overall it's saved by the humour from the gerbil and pigeons.
