A nice kids' show
20 October 2023
My kids love this, and I think it's cute! Excited to see more of what they come out with!

We've never seen bluey here, but I would gather these two shows have many unique things about them that set them apart! I love that this is about a homeschooling family! That's hardly ever shown in media, so it's nice to see it in this show!

I don't really have much else to say other than I think it's funny that some of the reviews are listing character development like that is a huge part of children's shows! Lol, I'm not watching any kid show to see how the character develops over a period of time. What a silly notion in some of the reviews.

Very well done.

I was hoping for a bit more of a faith element in this movie, and I, personally, was confused on the timeline - how many days was she stuck?

Overall, a well done, well acted movie. I especially enjoyed that it was hopeful throughout the movie. It wasn't all thrill up until the end! Well done!

Not a Christian film. Although, a visually stunning secular film.
24 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I want to start off by saying, I love the book and have read it 6 times. It really did help me on my spiritual journey of growing in the Lord. I was very excited about the author writing the screenplay, and the cast seemed to be rather fitting. This, unfortunately, isn't a Christian film.

The lack of mention of God, salvation, Christ, etc is disappointing. Along that note, there is no scene of Bible reading and a few weak prayers are added along with a weak "I want to believe" monolog at the end.

My second biggest disappointment was in the ending scene at Duke's brothel. In the book, Angel sings "Rock of Ages" and the written scene alone is enough to send shivers up my spine with how impactful it is. I was very much looking forward to this visually, but it just wasn't done.

I understand they need to cut certain things for timing and clarity, but I felt certain scenes and dialog could have been switched to make room for things they missed out on. Some of the things I truly missed: the Altman family is barely cut in, the development of Michael, relationships that just aren't as impactful because of the lack of character.

It was a visually stunning film, and I did enjoy myself. I felt myself enjoying it less and less as the film went on. It's hard to describe how I feel. Anyway, I would put this in the mostly secular category with very little mention of what the book was actually about: God's redeeming love.

God sent Jesus to die on a cross to save humans from their sins. All one needs to do is repent of their sins and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 10:9-10.

Definitely worth the watch!

I love how they always bring it back to God! It's amazing! I was a fan of Jeremy's before, but I truly appreciate getting a tiny glimpse into how the Lord shaped him and how Melissa's story and her faithfulness lives on! What a blessing!

A good children's show
25 June 2020
Yes, it is cheesy. Yes, the colors are too bright, and the animation isnt the best. The message is good overall for children. I have some issues with some of the underlying messages, but i watch with my kid, so we can talk about it. Compared to some of the crap out there, this is a good show for my sons to watch!

Clunky but Enjoyable
22 October 2019
I enjoyed the movie, and I feel that in a small town that racism could still potentially be a thing. All that being said, the background of the characters, the flow of the storyline, and some of the acting was clunky. Like I said, really enjoyed it despite all the clunkiness!!

Good movie for romance and Christmas.

I enjoyed watching this movie for the season. It was a unique twist on one of the classics, and the creativity was great. I felt the acting could have been better and flowed more natural between the characters. But overall, the movie entertained me well, and that is what any of us look for in a movie!

Cheesy, mediocre acting
15 November 2018
The plotline was cheesy and seemed to have some holes on how the characters were able to do things. The acting was definitely mediocre. I somewhat enjoyed watching it and didn't end up turning it off, so there is that.
