A dull and uncreative entry into otherwise great saga
28 December 2016
Warning: Spoilers
After having much enjoyment from A new Hope, Empire Strikes Back, and The Phantom Menace, I would not expect there to be a Star Wars film so bad I was in pain watching it, but this garbage did.

It starts out alright, simply Obi-Wan and Anikan protecting Amadala, there even is a cool scene when the two chase after the one who puts these weird centipede like creatures in Amadala's room to attack her. After that, it all goes downhill.

The middle consists of two things, a romance between Anikan and Amadala and Obi- Wan hunting down a mysterious bounty hunter.

The mystery part is rather generic, simply Obi-Wan talking to others for information that leads him closer to the one he is after. It is not awful, just bland. Though the fight scene between him and the bounty hunter was well done.

The romance part is what really gave me pain. This romance is both awkward due to age difference (Amadala is around 10-15 years older judging by how they looked in The Phantom Menace.) and filled with clichés. It has a dinner, cringe worthy lines, and the meadow, with no twists to make it interesting. Also Anikan is giant asshole, such as in the dinner scene where he uses o force to take Amadala's pear and give her barely any of said pear. Does not help that the acting is terrible and the two have no chemistry what so ever.

After that it is okay, the area scene was kinda epic with some good humor dealing with c-3po's body mix-up and the final battle, while know where near as climatic as the battle with Darth Maul, is decent. But they could not make up for part dull part painful middle.

Deadpool (2016)
8/10
a much needed breath of fresh air in a stale genre
26 September 2016
At first glance, Deadpool seems like a typical superhero movie due to it being made by Marvel. But once those hilarious intro credits show up, you know you are in for one of the most creative films in recent years.

The first thing that is unique about this film is the characters. In typical superhero films the characters are stiff and super serious, in Deadpool the characters are filled with personality and can range from the serious Francis to the silly Deadpool giving this a parody like feel, in a good way.

Also what is different is that this is a story of revenge rather then saving the city/world/universe that is seen in every single superhero film. Also the tone of film is more comic then dark thanks to the fantastic humor of all kinds from slapstick to dirty to just plain silly, this film just does not stop the laughs (I laughed 20- 30 times in my SECOND watch).

As for being an origin story, I can say that the backstory placements were well done, equally as funny, and explains only what is important in understanding the story. Final rating 10/10 this is a great nominee for movie of the year and one of the greatest comedies ever made

An action-enteric flick that does not forget about story
23 September 2016
This review will be by chapter.

Chapter 1: Does a solid job of laying out the framework for the rest of the film. The fighting was both creative and smooth. Also the dialog is nothing short of Tarantino's typical conversations.

Chapter 2: Can be disturbing, but that only helps the viewer emphasize with The Bride and the horrors she faced so well done Chapter 2.

Chapter 3: The odd one out chapter, due to it being animated rather then live action like the rest of the film. This chapter is a backstory on another character, not that you need to see it to understand the rest of the film (no joke you can skip this part and be just fine). This chapter also suffers from a small plot hole involving escaping what seems like an inescapable situation.

Chapter 4: This chapter is the least action packed out of the five, bearing 0 fighting and all dialog. Thankfully, the dialog is clever and does not drag on. Also the exchange between English and Japanese and back to English felt smooth and not random, which is something that sounds impossible but has now been proved to not be.

Chapter 5: WOW what a finale. This chapter is the most action packed, and man is the action sweet. It is extremely varied with many uses of furniture, quips of clever dialog, and all the glorious (and also not disturbing) gore.

9/10, not a 10/10 because of chapter 3 being pure filler

A unique on an old story type
6 August 2016
Slumdog Millionaire is, in a nutshell, I growing up story, something we seen in man other film (ex: Forrest Gump). Of course that is not a bad thing, as this film does twists to the formula. One is its use of the "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" game show, will this may seem like shameless product placement at first, the film use the mechanics of the show to its advantage, even with the lifelines. Also the film does a good job of merging Jamal before, during, and after the show and fusing them all into one smooth story. Another interesting thing about this film is the clever directing, such as clever scene transitions (ex: filling the screen with smoke from a blower then having Jamal come out of smoke in the next scene). Another unique thing about the film is that the growing up part is what surprises you, rather then the current situation (not that you will completely predict that either). The only flaws I have are a few bizarre editing choices (ex: a viewing from an angle for a few seconds for no reason)

The perfect example of a growing up story
3 August 2016
We all know the lines about the box of chocolates and Forrest running, but why? The reason we all remember that and the many other moments of this masterpiece is due to how intriguing they all are. What makes this film so captivating is the unique and fleshed out characters who all can be described in detail by anyone who even glances at this film. Also the way the film is told, while not original, is done well thanks to Forrest speaking before the camera cuts to him, which prevents the feeling of interruption, thus making the film feel smoother. Also they structure allows the viewers to get deep into Forrest's thoughts, which allows the viewer to feel like he truly knows him. Also the edit historical footage is very convincing, which helps create a dream like feel, which helps since this film is basically the American Dream in a nutshell. The only complaint I have with this film is a boat changing direction on its own (you will know what I mean when you watch this)

One Punch Man (2015– )

my first anime, and boy it impressed me
14 April 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I do not know what made me want to watch this, but I am glad I did. As the title suggests, the main character can beat all of his enemies with one punch. This might give the impression that this is boring, but it is not.

The first episode does give an poor impression of the show being nothing more then a series of fights, but once episode 2 kicks in, it gets so much better, the cyborg is a great sidekick with a nice contrast to the main character (I do remember there names). The other characters are also very creative. The show also has clever humor that will make you a least chuckle. The big problem I have with this show is that monster just seem to appear out of no where with no rhyme or reason (except for the one at the end), other then that amazing series and can not wait for season 2.

A TV show that made me go "WOW"
14 April 2016
I originally watched with no intention other then seeing what I missed back when I was 6-9. what I got was possibly the greatest piece of entertainment I ever seen.

The plot is simple, evil Firelord wanted to take over the earth, someone has to stop him, but what makes this show so engaging is that it fleshes the plot out into much more.

The biggest quality of this show is how fleshed out the characters are, they are filled with personality, emotions, and history, making them feel like real humans. Also the pacing is very smooth, going fast enough to not get boring but not too fast that it is hard to follow. Another quality is that there is no pointless episodes (except for S1 E11 and S2 E15, thought they are still worth watching).

Overall this show is perfect (except for S1 E14, that bored me) highly recommend if you want something to watch while waiting for whatever show you follow to come back.
