Ghosts (2021)
Nailed it!
"Ghosts" entertains. The writers nailed the atmosphere perfectly. How do you get a Viking, a Victorian, a Roaring-20's jazz chanteuse, a Revolutionary War captain, a 79's hippie, a Boy Scout, and an Wall St. Player together for all of eternity?
You put them in a Victorian mansion. And you have a young couple, from the city, buy the mansion in order to turn it into a B&B. And you place it somewhere in New England. Then you have the young wife hit her head and Voila! She can see, hear, and talk to the ghosts.
Nothing else needs to be said. I look forward to each eposode for the ensuing shenanigans.
The Blacklist: Nachalo (2021)
Almost There
Terrific episode that is basically a story told by the antagonists/protagonists of the last 8 seasons. It summarizes how Elizabeth is where she's at, how we got there, and what went on behind the scenes.
Unfortunately, like so many episodes before, we tiptoe right up to finding out who James Spader actually is. 8 stars for the storytelling, -2 for not revealing the identity of James Spader.
The Blacklist: Katarina Rostova (No. 3): Conclusion (2020)
One More to Go...
3 Rostovas down, one more to go.
Mama, Papa (Dom), and daughter (Katarina) Rostova are gone. Only one left is granddaughter (Liz).
The show hits "ludicrous speed" when Liz tells Red she's coming after him. Pretty sure Red, or N-13, or whoever he is, had a good chuckle over that one.
Changed from 4-star to 6-star because Katarina is finally gone. I guess she should have stayed in hiding.
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
Watch 'Em All
I have watched and rewatched every movie dozens of times. "Rise of Skywalker" is one I've seen 5 times.
I respect the reviews that are critical. However, I am in disagreement. When seen at the theatre, "Rise of Skywalker" is pretty fast paced and tough to follow. I bought the entire series on Vudu, so I've been able to rewatch them all. "Rise" answers many questions. Who are Rey's parents? Answered. Who's behind all these evil characters, like Snoke and Kylo Ren? Answered. How is Carrie Fischer resolved? Answered. Is Rey the last Force aware person? Answered. These explanations made sense to me and satisfied my queries.
The action in "Rise" is top-notch. The comedy is evenly and appropriately interspersed. There are emotional moments that are necessary. After 5 viewings, "Rise" has become one of my favorite Star Wars movies.
My belief is that "Rise of Skywalker" has wrapped up the Star Wars anthem tremendously. I love the movie. I do, however, recommend you watch it more than one time. Many things I missed were revealed in subsequent viewings.
Mom: Kreplach and a Tiny Tush (2016)
Linda Lavin is Comedy Gold
The fact that Linda Lavin wasn't nominated for an Emmy nor a Golden Globe speaks volumes for network TV and how it's overlooked.
Lavin's performance was the funniest guest spot on TV in over 10 years. Watch this episode...I dare you not to laugh.
