Nightmare Next Door: Lone Star Mystery (2014)
One sided
I was Brandon's trial attorney. The producers of this show never contacted anyone on the defense team. This is a one sided, biased show.
Yentl (1983)
Amazing, a total triumph
Streisand's directorial debut is a triumph. Everything works in this movie. The naysayers panned it before it came out ("Tootsie on the Roof") and it did not get the attention it deserved from the Academy, although Amy Irving did score a Best Supporting Actress Nomination. To this day I am unable to figure out how in the world the eminently forgettable theme from "Flashdance - What A Feeling" beat out "Papa, Can You Hear Me?" for an Oscar. Streisand is charming and engaging as Yentl, the young woman who yearns to break free of societal convention and study Talmud. She is believable as a young boy when Yentl engages in the ruse of posing as a boy to gain admittance to a Yeshiva. Of course, complications arise. These are not played for cheap laughs, but are dealt with sensitively as well as with humor. The film is a love letter to old style filmmaking that depended upon good stories and actors. The color of this movie is gorgeous. Streisand employed top notch talent (David Watkins) to ensure this film is a visually stunning as the soundtrack (by Michel Legrande and Marilyn and Alan Bergman). Watch this movie. You will want to see it again!
