Wentworth: Legacy (2021)
Goodbye my lovelies
No spoilers, but I think most people will be satisfied by this grandest of finalé to what has been a superb journey for so many years. Action and emotion in equal measures. It's sad to say goodbye but it had to happen eventually. Kudos to the cast for consistent brilliance. Kate Atkinson has been a rock from the start and is to the end. Can we have a reboot based on what happened in cell blocks A-G in the near future please?!
Wentworth: The Abyss (2021)
Calm before the storm(s)
Not the fireworks of last week, but we have been here before. Plenty of important plot development and we have some enthralling showdowns to look forward to in the last 2 hours of this fabulous show. Mari and Lou. Vera and Joan (Kath!). Be prepared to be on or off the edge of your seat. Fasten your seatbelts boys and girls. We are in for a couple of very bumpy nights.
Wentworth: Collateral (2021)
Amazing
This has been a phenomenal final season. The scriptwriters and cast are on top form and the roadmap is laid out for a superb last three episodes. One massive complaint. What do we do when it ends?
Wrong Turn (2021)
Wrong. Turn over
I hope this film cost less than about £8 to make (excluding actors fees, as they tried). It really is just pants. Oh no- look- a log is falling down a hill towards us. Let's just run in the same direction and hope it doesn't catch us. Would it not be a lot easier to skip sideways and survive? Amazing make up work with the scratches. Everyone seemed to have 2 perpendicular scratches on the face. Horror audiences deserve better.
In the Earth (2021)
This is bad even by Horror Channel standards
Sometimes you leave the cinema speechless for all the right reasons. Top class acting, a complex and intricate plot that keeps you on the edge of your seat until the denouement or perhaps even visual genius. And then there's that rare occasion when a film makes no sense despite a talented cast and is clearly heavily borrowing from a range of films that can't even be mentioned- yet is so bad it's wonderful. The director has done as good a job on this as he did with High Rise, which was a shambolic mess. This makes High Rise worthy of the greatest plaudits. I actually encourage viewing of this film just so you can have a really good laugh. It's been a dreadful year or so and this will cheer you up. For all the wrong reasons.
