Halloween (2018) is not only a great Halloween sequel but also a great movie in general. The acting performances are phenomenal and Jamie Lee Curtis proves once and for all that she is one of the best actresses out there. The soundtrack is a masterpiece with the legendary John Carpenter at the wheel. There is humor in this movie and it surprisingly works very well. I was shocked that I was laughing out loud during a Halloween movie. However, don't let the humor paint the wrong picture. This movie is a terrifying, emotional, edge-of-your-seat thriller. Michael Myers remains one of the best characters in fiction, and he hasn't said a word. This film isn't just a movie, it is an experience.

Slender Man (2018) is a tragedy. This film is a failure to launch. The film has some great scenes of tension, but they are bogged down by boring and generic characters, clunky dialogue, over-the-top effects, and lame plot execution. The only things that save this movie from being utter garbage are the cool visuals and the decent suspense that occurs when Slenderman is on screen. The scenes with Slenderman would be better if the soundtrack was any bit memorable. The final nail in the coffin is the ending. I won't spoil it, but it is highly dissatisfying. All in all, this film has a good Slenderman, but that's the only thing it has going for it.

It is rare that a spin-off of a show is better than the original. Law & Order: Special Victims Unit has managed to fit into that category. With its dark themes, great writing, gripping story lines, and fantastic characters, Law & Order: SVU surpassed the original Law & Order in my own opinion. This show is a must watch for TV fans everywhere. I do not believe this show has ever had a bad episode. Every episode hooked me enough that I didn't want to get up from my couch. Many episodes had me on the edge of my seat. It is rare for me to be genuinely excited for a seven-hour TV marathon, but this show makes me want to sit and watch it all day. I'd definitely recommend it to my friends.
