Shinseiki Evangelion (1995)
Has many great things, but...
(This opinion is conseidering both endings, the original from the anime and the one from the movie 'End of Evangelion')
It can't be denied that Evangelion has some of the best complexity I have ever seen; The characters are like nothing found on any other show, much less an anime, the plot as presented is not so revolutionary, but with time it unveils to be very different from other shows of its genre, the artistic work and the effort on the details is very impressive.
Ironically, Evangelion has some of the worst complexity I have ever seen; As the shows goes on, the characters become less interesting, and never get to live to their potential, some of the sub plots and secondary characters have no real meaning to the story. On top of that, there's the ending (the one from the movie, the real one), which is executed in such a messy that you don't really get to enjoy and never clearly answers many of the question raised while you watch the series.
