TheShamrock: Jamie Foxx is going to win the Oscar because he is a black man and the Academy Awards wants to be politically correct by giving an award to a black person.
This movie came out way before Oscar season and movies never win that come out when Ray came out. The Oscars never look that far back. The Oscars will though go back to Ray so they can have a black man to give an award to.
juliette_bisexual: i saw a picutre of him when he was in high school and i almost puked. he really was/is unatttracktive. i cant believe he won an oscar , everyone knows it should have went to leonardo dicaprio. he was much much better. the academy was just trying to do a nice thing for the black people yet again. i'm no racist but everytime a black actor doesnt win they say its because the academy is racist. GET OVER IT. i agreed with morgan freeman's win. he was great. but foxx is really not deserving in my opinion of that honor. what he did in ray was just mimic him. that's not acting that's mimicing.
tamandchris: I like Samuel and he DOESN'T CHEAT ON HIS WIFE! HE'S A HARD WORKING BLACK MAN AND DESERVES EVERYTHING GOOD THAT'S COMING TO HIM INCLUDING A MOVIE THAT MY HUSBAND AND I ARE WRITING FOR HIM.
I don't care how good Denzel is right now. I have lost all respect for him. I will NOT support anymore of his movies. He should just retire because when the news comes out about him and Sanaa (when it's confirmed) all the sisters are going to disown him.

AFI's 100 Years... 100 Stars: America's Greatest Screen Legends (1999)
50 of the greatest stars!
Not as good as AFI's 100 Years, 100 Movies, but this documentary still has some interesting features. However, I disagree with many of the choices made. I don't believe that Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Vivien Leigh, Claudette Colbert, Grace Kelly, and Ginger Rogers should have made the list. These are all great actors, but to me there are far superior actors such as Paul Robeson, Deborah Kerr, Gloria Swanson, Gloria Grahame, Sydney Greenstreet, Myrna Loy, William Powell, Jean Arthur, Mary Astor, the three Barrymore siblings (John, Lionel, Ethel), Walter Huston, Richard Burton, Montgomery Clift, Bing Crosby, Rosalind Russell, Olivia de Havilland, W.C. Fields, Bob Hope, Boris Karloff, Charles Laughton, Harold Llyod, Peter Lorre, Joel McCrea, Fredric March, Vincent Price, Anthony Quinn, Claude Rains, Thelma Ritter, Mickey Rooney, Jane Russell, Peter Sellers, Norma Shearer, Frank Sinatra, Lana Turner and Natalie Wood. The bottom line, is that AFI should have picked the top 50 actors and top 50 actresses instead of 25. This way, many more legendary actors would have been included.
Out of Africa (1985)
Danish woman recalls her life in Kenya on a coffee plantation
An incredible score and incredible cinematography, plus memorable performances by Meryl Streep and Robert Redford, save this film from complete disaster. I personally thought the movie was overlong and dull in the second half. This part of the film contains nothing exciting, but rather long drawn out scenes of Streep's character (Karen Blixen) waiting for her lover played by Redford to return from another adventure, so they can reconcile. Then the very next day he is off again, on some other mysterious adventure. I don't even think that romance film lovers will like this film. However, viewers will enjoy the beautiful scenery and the wonderful direction of Oscar winning director Sydney Pollack.
