Éxtasis tropical (1970)
Isabel Sarli's Top Allureness
The photographic quality of this film is a realm for the voluptuous allure of Isabel Sarli, here in her best moment. Isabel is Mónica,a hooker that quits outs of her exploiter in a city, getting to a little fisher's town in an Brazilian Bay.There lives her former love,a solitaire fisher, that offers her his house. For a time,Mónica continues to work as a prostitute in the bay;but, because of rumors that noticed her presence in the town, arrives there the hooker exploiter.Menaced to return to work for him in the city,Mónica resists, being helped by her beloved fisher. This man,who awaits patiently a change in Mónica's form of live, expose her life to successfully defend her.Mónica, impressed, finally see a new light in her future;remaining to live with the fisher. The beautiful natural scenario performs well with plenty of Sarli's totally nude swimmings by the seaside.
Mañana te cuento (2005)
Good Film Core
This Peruvian teen comedy is build around a good plot core, related to the night-long experiences of a group of adolescent boys with young hookers, occurring simultaneously.Unfortunately,a boring preface, based on bad taste humor;and a pretended dramatic epilogue, spoils the film as a whole. It can be interesting as a reflex of the idiosyncrasy of middle-class teenagers in Peru at the 2000 decade.Melania Urbina does the best performance as one sensible young hooker, giving friendliness along with sexual knowledge,to her teen client.Milene Vásquez gets well photographed, artistic nude scenes;while Angie Jibaja (a vedette in real life)displays as the classical hooker.
La señora del intendente (1967)
Peronist Propaganda Hided As Comedy
This B&W film exploited Isabel Sarli's already achieved popularity in order to make political propaganda to Argentinian's Peronist Party (also known as Justicialism). The coarse papers of the secondary actors, the vulgarity of the plot lines and the scarcely funny results makes this picture the lowest step in Armando Bo's films. The irony was that Bo thought that this plot politicization would reduce the action of the censorship on his filmography. On the contrary,it disgusted severely to the Presidential Candidate of Peronism in that year,Frondizi."La Señora Del Intendente" has no point of comparison with 1964's "La Mujer Del Zapatero",a truly funny comedy of Bo also starred by Isabel Sarli.
La burrerita de Ypacaraí (1962)
Semi-Tropical Romantic Drama
A little town in the Paraná Forrest of Paraguay is the scenario of this dramatic drama.Isabel Sarli is Isabel, the beautiful daughter of poor farmers, who's love for the sordid Quiroga cuts early her life when both fails to evade a Policial Chase over the Iguazú Falls (in the conjunction of the borderlines of Paraguay,Brazil and Argentina). Unlike other films directed by Armando Bo,here the romantic drama is accented rather than the sexual appeal of her female protagonist (Isabel only makes one nude scene, when swimming at a Forrest River). This dramatic accent will only be achieved balancing both elements, several years later,in "Extasis Tropical";also starred by Isabel Sarli.
The Legend of Hell House (1973)
Banned During 7 Years In Peru
The fact that the plot main figure,Emeric Belasco, have had a phonetically second name equivalent to that of Peruvian's Leftist Dictator Velasco(who's State Coup covered the 1968-1980 period)led to the prohibition of this film exhibition and distribution on this country, beyond the Premiere Date. The thing get complicated with more similarities of fiction with reality, since Velasco lost both legs as a consequence of being shooted by a gunner at Government's Palace. The ban over this film in Peru was extinguished by 1980,when an Elected Government arise. Beyond this political curiosity,I loved Pamela Franklin's work along this film along with Clive Revill's serious accent over the Paranormal Phenomena.Gayle Hunnicut failed in putting more dramatic component to the film.
