The evil men do !
4 July 2022
What a strange film that was! A lot more on the artsy side of horror and less traditional. It had excellent shots catching the atmosphere of being alone in a country house surrounded by strange men and ongoings pretty well. A couple of scense were very well done like the tunnel and the subsequent walk back. It has an excellent performance from both lead roles. Its definitely one of those movies were a director tries to leave it to the audience to make there own minds up about the deeper meanings and such. The last 20 minutes are extreme to say the least but all in all we enjoyed it and would recommend it as it is different and has clearly had some effort behind it.

Terribly benign basket case
23 January 2022
If your expecting a james wan horror film you will be mistaken with this. I have no idea why this is classed as a horror. What starts off as an interesting story quickly turns into a modern mess of cgi and poor execution. It has ridiculous action sequences. Irritating characters and very predictable plot make this just an average film. I really cant understand the high ratings for this at all. Skip this one watch something else.

Mix and mash of multiple movies in one
16 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
A mixup of the ritual, the wicker man, midsommar and the truman show! Pretty good little unexpected netflix horror film with a bit of a different take. There is a few plot holes and a lot doesnt make sense but i liked the direction it went in. There are some decent shots here and there but it could have had a bit more style considering it was made by the Italians who used to make excellent horror films. The acting is ok some are over the top and others are corny however they all serve the purpose of the characters they are playing. Its not a traditional horror film but it is definitely worth watching if you are a horror fan who likes it when things are a bit different from the current blockbuster horrors that have not been very good as of late. This at least had a bit of originality to it although it borrowed from many films it still had potential and is worth a watch.

Just Ok. More story than scares and lack of suspense.
28 May 2021
I was looking forward to this film and the dreaded suspense and scares that this franchise has mastered over the years and was left disappointed. What we got was more story of the Warren's and their battle against evil and the played out snapping body part movements that the Japanese mastered 20 years ago. The first two conjuring films had suspense and scares galore where you would almost hide from the anticipation of what is coming but on this occasion i found it a bit lacking. It is still worth a watch and the story is decent i just expected a lot more from what has been some of the best modern horror films to date.

The Lodge (2019)

Dark, dreary well paced horror
23 May 2021
Watched this movie without seeing any trailers for it so didnt know what to expect going in, which is always the best way to watch a film. I was pleasantly surprised by this hammer house horror psychological slow burner. It was dark and very well paced. Its not packed full jump scares so if your looking for that, then this isnt for you. In a nutshell its basically about a step mum to be with a troubled past, who is left to look after her two new step kids in a wooden lodge in the middle of nowhere during a blizzard. Its atmosphericly dreary with an excellent setting and location that helps the story progress slowly to its climax. The acting is great from all involved especially the leading lady who steals the show but the two young actors did excellent . It has its flaws but it flowed nicely and kept me intrigued throughout. Its definitely one to watch in the winter time.

The Power is up again!
9 April 2021
Pleasantly surprised with this one. The acting was good from everyone involved. It had some good jump scares but It could have had many more. It had so much potential that it didnt use which would have made it a lot more scary and tense. I mean its in the pitch black of an old hospital! The stairways the atmosphere etc you would think they would exploit this as much as possible but what they did was still good enough and a lot better than a lot of Hollywood blockbusters that got cinema releases. The tension build up was also good enough but again could have been so much better as the potential was there for it to be great. A decent horror film thats worth a watch.

Super Dark Teens!
9 April 2021
Excellent film. Very well made. The time and style are captured perfectly. I felt like i was back in 96. The acting is surprisingly good from such a young cast and they over deliver in every aspect. The directing is very moody and well paced getting ready for the tense ever approaching dreaded climax that feels inevitable. I didnt watch a trailer for this and went straight in and was glad i did as a lot of trailers spoil movies nowadays. After watching i researched to find multiple meanings to the ending which made sense and gave even more weight to this well made film. There are a lot subliminal shots in this that will keep you thinking.

Happy death day & groundhog day had a woke baby!
4 April 2021
I dont get all the really bad reviews for this film. It wasnt that bad but it wasn't amazing either just ok. Yes it doesnt explain a lot and yes its a looped plot film but it tries to hard for the deaper meaning than just a typical looped slasher although it probably would have been better if stuck to the loops without the deepness. The acting isnt great and can seem a bit b movie ish at times but they get the job done well enough. It did have potential to be a hell of a lot better but overall it was different from what i expected and i didn't mind that. The direction is the best part of this film. Some good shots and a mellow score with synth elements bring a nice welcomed atmosphere and help set the tone. Its not the best film ever made or the best looped style movie but its worth a watch nonetheless.

Rosemary's baby had a baby with Damien!
3 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Over the years we have seen many different interpretations of the devils spawn sub genre. This film sits nicely in that category. Its not the best satan spawn film ever made but it is an original one none the less with a bit of a twist. The acting is ok at best and could have done with a bit more talent to spruce it up a bit as it had a lot of potential. They could have dived a bit deeper into the mother's background as that seemed very interesting but they kept it lowkey which was disappointing. The directing and style wasnt anything special but was good enough for the budget. Its worth a watch if you like this kind of horror movie but go in thinking its bad and not expecting much and you may like it a bit more than you expected. It is a bit predictable in parts but it does have its own personality.

Takes 2 to Tango
3 April 2021
Definitely a good idea to just watch movies without reading reviews first as some of the reviews for this film are way off. First of all the story is original and carries itself along well enough throughout the run time without it getting boring. The acting is actually very good from both the male leads. They both show a good range of emotions and talent to switch them up with a bit of swagger. Some of the direction and camera work is slick and colourful which gives it a bit more oomph. There are a lot of nice little touches that help develop the imaginary friends character and existence. Its actually pretty deep and thought provoking on some levels. Make your own mind up about this one, give it a go and dont be persuaded by the little voice inside your head.

A deep meaningful occult horror classic!
3 April 2021
This is a great occult horror film. The trailers dont do it justice. If you are in to occult horror films this is a modern classic with a fantastic ending. The acting is great, the style in which its shot is nice and smooth. Both the tone and settings are perfect. You will find yourself researching if this has ever happened in real life and what you find may shock you. The plot is Loosely based on and made famous by Alistair Crowley. Its a very deep film all in all. Give this film a go if you occult horrors. It may be slow but its building to a wonderful ending.

Refreshing occultist horror
3 April 2021
I always liked a good horror movie about the occult and when i saw the trailer for this i had to watch it and was not let down. It isnt a slow burn at all. The characters are deep enough to care about the journey and the acting is good. It also had some actual decent jump scares and tension. The occult side of this movie doesnt go as deep as a dark song but its still satisfying for your tastebuds if you like this kind of horror. All in all a movie definitely worth a watch.

Fear of.... movies like this!
28 March 2021
Depressing, predictable and boring. Not sure how this film got the ok or why it was even made. It tries way to hard to get you lost in the main characters mental issues but in the end its predictable in the first 5 minutes. It then drones on for nearly 2 hours to get to what you probably figured out straight away. The acting isn't bad but i didnt feel anything towards the characters wooden personalities. Dont waste your time with this one unless you have absolutely nothing left to do with your time.

Great nostalgia.... Dont get all the negativity
5 March 2021
First of all dont get all the negativity. This went straight to prime so expecting some low budget work but the nostalgia and some fun moments made up for it. Leslie jones was hilarious as usual and it Was nice to see wesley snipes on screen to. The barbershop guys were exactly the same aswell i really dont get the negative reviews. Dont care about the politics or the woke bizness i enjoyed the nostalgia and the all the familiar faces. If you liked the first one as much as i did you will just enjoy this and seeing the gang again.

Brewster is still so cool!
6 February 2021
This is an absolute classic. Heavily underated and not as corny as the trailer portrays. Its full of style and 80s campness. All the characters are excellent and have their own personality and journey. Brilliantly shot with some great original special effects. No surprise the director also made the original IT film and Halloween 3 season of the witch to which both of these films drip in swag. If you are a fan of the vampire genre this has to be one of the best entries along with the first of course but you dont have to be to like this one.

Quiet! No Mercy! How it should be done.
19 January 2021
If you grew up in the 80s and loved karate kid... Wait even if you didnt grow up in the 80s but you watched karate kid and loved it like i did back in the 80s then you are in for such a great watch. This is how a reboot should be done. It has everything from all the good guys and the bad guys. You will laugh, cry and gasp at this show it really is that good. Old characters are brought back and kept fresh with excellent story telling and gradual character build up that isnt patronising to the viewer. I was on the edge of my seat screaming at the tv in such joy many times during all the seasons. I hope this carries on for a while.

GGG gretal gretal gretal

Ok so what we have here is a classic attempt to make an artsy film with a flimsy plot and some decent acting. Let me start by saying the cinematography is actually awesome. It captures the feel of the time its set in very well. The witches parts are very well done and proves that this little gem had some potential to be pretty big if some more thought and time was put into the plot instead of having to unravel what was goin on as i kept asking myself whats going on....Hansel was awful. There i said it. Moving on. Gretal and the witch carry this film and do it some justice. All in all not a bad little attempt at fairy tale horror with some very nice shots. A worthy watch but expect plot holes and some dry spells.

Wooden Woman
23 December 2020
You cant just look the part you have to be the part. Gal Gadot might have the looks but she doesnt have the acting talent to play what the director was trying to achieve. She has no emotional range and forces everything. Her accent makes me think she is this generations Arnie! This film falls very flat on many levels. Although the villian was by far the best actor in the film, they could have chosen a better character for WW to go up against. DC has such a wide range of villians but they never pull the trigger on the big ones same case with the justice league film. Kristen Wigg was decent and brought some well needed flavour to this bland dish. Chris Pine was pointless as Gadot couldn't portray the emotions required to sell me that story. There wasn't a lot of action just a lot more drama. Wait for this come out on netflix or something dont waste your money unless your bored which in these times i dont blame you for being so! Overall just a bland story with strange plot holes that make it seem incomplete.

Dont Care!
28 November 2020
This was disappointing. I was expecting a lot more from the Spanish. They usually make very good films especially horrors. This was mediocre at best. Standard Hollywood horror. Yes the ending is decent but it doesnt take away the fact that there was a missed opportunity here. From what started out as a promising horror with a good storyline just fell a bit flat in parts. The jump scares were predictable, the tension was good and could have been so much better if they focused a bit more on the payoff of built up suspension into a jump scare but it just didnt do it for me. I dont get the 10/10 reviews for this. The acting was good but i wasnt drawn into the characters as much as i wanted to be. Still worth a watch but dont go in expecting a horror classic that stands the test of time.

Santa Noelle
28 November 2020
I dont get all the negative reviews for this film calling it woke etc. Its a kids christmas feel good film with a female lead whats the big deal? Why is this woke culture ? Why are people taking it so seriously? Calm down and chill like frosty the snowman. Anna Kendrick isnt as annoying as she is in everything else and the rest of the cast are decent enough for this family film to be fun. The story is predictable but it plays along nicely. The north pole was actually done well and makes the film have a perfect Christmas feel to it. If you want a new xmas film that you haven't seen and dont take this for more than what it is then you will enjoy it. Simple as. Merry Christmas you filthy animals.

Lock the Room!
14 November 2020
Just watched this little gem after watching the trailer which resembles the hidden door series on channel zero. Without spoiling the trailers tell you Its about a young couple who have bought a new dream house in the middle of nowhere that has a little secret. A hidden room that grants every wish but with impending consequences. It Kind of Reminded me of the gate 2. I am left pleasantly surprised with a head full of ideas as to what i would wish for if i was in this scenario. It has a very well paced build up with a satisfying and creative ending. The character development could have done with a little work as you dont know to much about them and they can be a bit wooden at times, but its definitely a bearable performance from all involved. The dialogue is a bit sticky and basic, but again bareable. Although this movie was predictable at times it didnt ruin the flow of the picture. Dont go in expecting a masterpiece just go in with an open mind. This little creative film will leave you thinking what if.....

The dull start the wicked middle and the dreary end
13 November 2020
Gave this one a go as the trailer looked decent for a friday night horror so i never go in expecting much from these shudder horrors as the trailers tend to be better than the movie itself. Starts off slow with minor character development over a long period with nice shots of the farm scenery that the story is based around. The family story and background wasnt very engaging and deep enough and i struggled to understand some of the muffled talking from the actors. When we finally get to some horror and jump scare parts its actually good and starts going somewhere so you strap yourself in for ride that never quite climaxes. This had a lot of potential as the location could have done a lot more for the product. A creepy farm with antlers everywhere and a haunting entity that is relentless could have been pushed a bit further. By the end i was left disappointed by the over the top predictability of the plot. The acting was ok at best and the highlights come from the priest and the mother. A missed opportunity for a devilish farm movie but still worth a one time watch if you like anything horror related.
