Never thought Netflix could show such a simple & beautiful case. An ensemble cast with good storyline & tight direction. The good thing about Mamla Legal Hai showcases many paradoxes of India yet never ever going cheesy or overboard. The episodes are good & cast fits the bill. There's also a unique twist in most episodes especially in the last ones. The story arc develops well almost like both Jolly LLBs. The character of Langoor man is fascinating & I was reminded of Ardhnarishwar from Gulaal. There are other characters which are equally good but to me Ravi Kishan is heart & soul of this show. He always had good screen presence but here he showcases his true range. Phenomenal Ravi Kishan & as he always - Zindagi jhand ba phir bhi ghamand ba... 😊

12th Fail
(2023)
Straight 10 stars - tremendous
11 November 2023
This is a movie of journey of a man hailing from a village in Morena, near Gwalior in MP. The portrayal, the journey as well as the set up is too realistic. The cinematography, BGM are all top notch. All characters are brilliantly written & acted. Leading lady Medha Shankar is absolutely brilliant with proper emotions. But the movie has the biggest star in form of Vikrant Massey. He lives the character. Be it the scenes of helplessness in village or in Delhi, he's too good. The scenes in Flour mill are too emotional & brilliantly enacted. There's no preachiness yet strikes the right notes. Vidhu Vinod Chopra you have created a masterpiece. This one is your best work ever including Parinda & easily the best movie this year & probably of last 2/3 years.
Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar
(2023)
Irrelevant, overacting & totally senseless - in fact mind numbing.
16 March 2023
If this is entertaining or romantic, then I don't know where Manmarziyan, Tamasha or Laila Majnu would stand (classics - I guess). A bogus movie with bad acting (overacting). I was expecting layered nuances of modern day relationships & other modern day problems, instead got a mind numbing experience of overacting & pointless scene after scene. What's the purpose of our characters in this movie & why do they exist ? In which world do our characters live, no movie had Covid, no one ever faces competitive entrances, no one faces recession, no one ever has decent conversation over Coffee. Either they dance in slo mo after taking shots or they are sleeping together. Arey Idiots, world is different & beautiful, much more than silliness you guys project. Bollywood movies have lost it completely. May be someday better cinema with better actors will make more moolah at box office. Sorry guys totally wasted my time & money. Meanwhile, we wait for Oppenheimer.
Nazar Andaaz

This is absolutely brilliant

This movie on Netflix was missed by me. Saw it today on a lazy afternoon. It's trailer created my interest & I watched it. One of very very rare movies which brought tears to my eyes especially meeting someone after many years. The nostalgia trip to childhood & adolescence is beautifully captured - made me think of my childhood days & places where I lived. Someday I will also revisit. Kumud Mishra you are a gem & so is your performance. Divya Dutta & Abhishek Banerjee are equally good. The direction is good & movie is carried by the their lead performers. The locations are good & storyline simple. Worth a watch.

Stunning movie
12 August 2022
Saw it today in August,2022. What a brilliant piece of cinema. Almost like Revenant in many ways - Revenge, landscape etc. The detailing is brilliant. Navdeep Singh is a superb director very good at creating different world. Saif, Zoya are very good...Tremendous movie...
Tamasha
(2015)
Ok slightly late bhakt- but still

This is movie for ages - didn't watch when it released. Watched after a year & have watched many times in parts. Ranbir & Deepika have stunned but the star is Imtiaz- the director. This is the pinnacle of his cinema. The songs, the cinematography, the angst, the catharsis, the catalyst, the symbolism, the narrative, the language - everything's perfect. I watch 10 minutes sometimes, sometimes more. At least 20 or more viewings - why not create a part 2 - where everything's perfect - an after story- just a thought...
Nadiya Ke Paar
(1982)
All time great
22 July 2021
Nadiya ke paar is a phenomenon. A true reflection of rural India in those times & it was brilliant time for sure. Remembering grandpa days. People used to come in bullock cart to see this movie. It was a huge huge hit. The music & cast was superb. Rajshri's pinnacle I guess. HAHK is a poor copy. They don't make movies like this anymore.
Gulaal
(2009)
Gulaal - AK, KK, Piyush Mishra & Abhimanyu Singh masterclass
18 July 2021
Gulaal is so layered & dialogues are so good that it takes movie to another level. One of my all time favourites. Piyush Mishra's music is all time classic. Lyrics stunning. In this ensemble of geniuses like KK Menon, Deepak Dobriyal, Aditya Srivastava, Piyush Mishra - Abhimanyu Singh stands tall. He is one of my favourite artists since. Loved him in Upanishad Ganga as well. He didn't get many roles to actually showcase his talent but then he killed it in Gulaal.
The Truman Show
(1998)
Simply brilliant with Jim Carey's stunning performance
28 February 2021
This is a movie for ages. Remarkable, relevant, metaphorical for our existence. What is real ? Are we free ? You never had a camera in my head - Truman. This movie remains Jim Carey's nearly perfect movie - though he is brilliant in so many, yet this is spectacular. Watch it now.
The Matrix
(1999)
Matrix - one of the greatest ever - in same league as The Shawshank Redemption & Interstellar
18 October 2020
What to say about the Matrix which has not already been said ? Sheer brilliance in every department. Those seeing faults in CGI can they come to terms with the fact this Universe looks exactly like it's meant to be real or unreal ? Why correlate with our Universe & how we see it ? 😊 Also, as for finding faults - well it's your limited understanding that you can't see the sheer beauty of Matrix Universe, concept of Maya, free will & choice. Matrix is not a film, it's a revolution. You don't get it now, one day you surely will, one day.... 😊
Laila Majnu
(2018)
Ah the aching heart, love & longing
14 October 2020
Each frame is like a painting. Songs are wonderful. Story is great, probably the best romantic movie of last decade. May be it's beyond romance, about love & what it can do. Avinash Tiwary is brilliant. Tripti Dimri is decent. I loved it, so will you.
Ginny Weds Sunny
(2020)
Boring with cliches
9 October 2020
These kind of breezy romantic movies need some triggers of angst or catharsis or some plot twist to generate sufficient interest. The writing is pedestrian, my favourites Vikrant Massey, Yami Gautam are not upto the mark. Why did they make this movie - I have no idea ? Just watch Chemical Hearts on Amazon prime instead - it's a love story with aching beauty.
Cobra Kai
(2018–2025)
Netflix you brought all brilliant memories & more.
5 September 2020
I always used to wonder whenever I watched any classic that what would be the Universe of the characters 10/20/30 years down the line ? At least The Karate Kid Universe has been created & what brilliance. One can feel massive Mr. Miyagi influence all the time & what a series - absolutely marvellous with brilliant character arcs. Fantastic- a must watch. When's Season 3 coming ?
