Midnight Movie (2008)
The Perfect Midnight Movie
Honestly, I am so glad I got to see an early screening of Midnight Movie: The Killer Cut. I had already seen the original version of Midnight Movie( which is one of my favorite horror films) and the new version has included some sweet new shots and better visual effects that make the film even gorier than first cut. My favorite part though would be the plot of this film. I love how the film jumps between the movie being shown in the theater and the movie theater itself. It creates a multidimensional atmosphere that keeps you intrigued to what will happen next. The classic-style movie theater is the perfect set for this thrasher film. For all the horror fans out there I highly recommend this film and I feel it's a must for your DVD collection.
Viva Riva! (2010)
Not just another mobster flick!
I initially thought this movie would be like any other mobster flick, but I was blown away at how good it actually was. I felt the actors were well chosen for their characters, especially Patsha Bay as Riva. He was a clever character that had me intrigued of what he was going to do next. Most scenes happen in Kinshasha which fits into the plot line and is also visually appealing. I feel the plot went to many extremes and was comical at times, which worked extremely well. If you're looking for an action packed film with quite an amount of gore, this films perfect for you ( as I do enjoy these type of films myself). This is definitely a must see and I can't wait to see it again.
Bride Flight (2008)
A Beautifully Told Tale
Normally I'm not one to watch romance films, but I got the chance to see this one and I am so delighted I watched it. First off the characters were portrayed excellently by the actors. I felt the young and old versions of each character were synchronized with their counterpart. I especially enjoyed Waldemar Torenstra as young Frank, he had a charm that all the female characters (and I feel the female audience) grows an attraction for. The scenery in New Zealand is beautiful and a perfect setting for an intriguing and timeless tale. The plot is full of twist and turns that are subtle yet brilliant, that keep you hooked until the end. Even though it's just over 2 hours, you don't notice. All in all a wonderful film that I can't wait to add to my collection.
How to Live Forever (2009)
Wonderful Character Choices
"If there was a pill to live for 500 years, would you take it?" The million dollar question asked throughout this film by director Mark Wexler. From Eleanor Wasson, a 100 year old vegetarian that drinks vodka every night, to Buster, a 101 year old beer drinking, marathon runner, what is the true secret to living a longer life and is it fulfilling to do so? In this terrific documentary, the audience is taken on a journey through multiple characters around the world that are quite unique and delightful to watch. Their stories have inspired me to live my life to the fullest and I find it will do the same for you.
