A good weekend binge
2 September 2022
A new cop. Multiple gruesome murders. (mind you, the bodies are gory) And the search for the killer.

It sounds like any other crime story, but the makers have made sure that you will be hooked. Its a movie made for TV. Not for cinema.

If you ignore the one song sequence, this is a good watch.

Grab your chips or popcorn, watch it out.

Acting is decent. Akshay is a natural in acts like these. Especially a cop. He shows his funny side too. (where he isn't natural is when he cries, ofcourse).

The school sequence will bring a smile and take us back to days when we all at some point of time, have fabricated our parents signature.

Rakul Preet is a support. Rest all the actors do their job perfectly. Christopher act is good too. One scene of his is eerily familiar to the recent Delhi Crime S02.

One thing which I thought is lacking is, in movies like these, the backstory need to detailed. Should have been given 5-10 minutes more. To understand the mind of the serial killer and why is he doing the said acts. Its shown here too, but a detailed back story works wonder.

The Night Of (2016)

A good drama. But not a Who-dun-it.
3 December 2021
The first episode was a bang. Threw out of the park.

The rest were good enough to keep hooked.

The only complaint was, as a viewer, we should have known what actually happened on the night of... But well, this movie isn't a who-dun-it. It basically shows, "You aren't guilty, until proven." Commendable acting, behind the jail shockers and well made procedural.

Just wasted 6 hours of my life.

Good Cinematography doesn't make good shows. The locations are amazing. The show is not even half of that.

The concept is good. Could have been made into a good show.

But what you get is poor direction that makes all the goods into bad.

Imagine, dru-gging someone and asking him to drive your car in the hilly roads! Seriously?

Over acting many a places, especially by Vayu.

Last 10 minutes did come as a surprise though.

If you really like quality shows, don't waste your time here.

Hit & Run (2021)

Well made show. Binge worthy.

Its not amazing. But if you have the time, then you wont be disappointed. In fact, would love it.

Many reviews mention its shot in dark!! Well they haven't watched Snyder version of Justice league then. Ignore those comments, and just go for it. Some scenes are shot with less lighting, but that just adds to the atmosphere. But at no place, you would struggle to grasp the on-goings.

Well Shot. Well Made political espionage thriller involving the CIA and the Mossad. Grab a bowl of popcorn, and binge it on!!

It hits you HARD
4 August 2021
I generally don't give a 9, but this is something else.

I am from Ranchi, and was a regular to Bokaro.

This incident was unknown to me till i watched Grahan and it hit me like a ton of bricks.

Its all about 1 fateful night and how it turned the world upside down for both the perpetrators and the ones who were attacked.

You get to feel for Manu and Rishi. The happenings that goes on around them. Their soft love story.

And all the while you feel that there's something unknown to us. There's something beneath that's not told. And you get to know that in the last episode, and it hits you hard.

The background score haunts you. The vocals leave a lasting impression.

There are no highs in the show, and no lows either. It continues in the parallel path that it takes till the very end. It's a slow burn drama. Don't miss it.

Sherni (2021)
8/10
Vidya is the real Sherni here.
18 June 2021
What works : Jungles, Satire and Vidya of course.

What doesn't : Story gets slow at times but does keep us hooked.

First off, it's not a thriller considering the concept of catching a tiger. It's a battle between 2 thought process.

One, who wants to save the tiger.

Second, who wants to add 1 more kill to his list.

And in between, there is corruption, politics, egoes and a hard hitting message of Wildlife conservation and environmental balance.

Jungles are shot beautifully. The local dialect would be loved.

A good break from watching movies based on urban India with actors flaunting 6 Packs.

Vidya is amazing as always. She is the real Sherni here with her facial expressions speaking more than she does.

Vijay Raaj would be as much loved as Sharat Saxena would be hated.

Rest of the crew does good too.

A decent 1 time watch.

Radhe (2021)

The only problem with the Movie is : Salman Khan
13 May 2021
There was a time, very recently, when we were served pretty good movies by Salman. Tiger series, Wanted, Bajrang Bhaijan, Sultan. They weren't cult classic, but they were good.

Then cam a time when Salman started to interfere in the director's work. Tubelight, Race 3 are some of the examples where the directors themselves spoke about it. And that's when we started getting craps from the actor. He should realize that direction isn't his cup of tea. And let the directors do their work without interference.

Radhe fallsin the second category.

Plus Prabhudeva has never been a good director, his only hits coming when he remakes the Southern films.

Don't waste your time. Better to watch Tiger Zinda hai again.

Expect the Unexpected

Web Series are made for stories like this.

So many sub plots to this story, where many a times (especially in ep 2), I felt as if what's the connection to Ep 1, only to find the links in the very last minute of the episode.

A plot so elaborate with so many pieces, and all of them fitting perfectly like a well designed jigsaw puzzle in the final episode, that I can just praise the genius in the filmmaker.

Watch it guys. And you will feel the same.

Everything except a story

Ibiza. You beauty!

The locales are amazing.

Acting is good too. Boxer stays with you long after you wrap up the series. Just loved his character.

But. That's it.

There's nothing much in the story. It's lethargic.

If you don't take Alex Pina into account, you might like it. But he has set so high standards with Money Heist, that one can't stop comparing his works.

Watch it only for Boxer and the beautiful Ibiza.

Breaking Bad (2008–2013)
10/10
Even a rating of 9.5 seems less for this.
24 July 2020
When I started Breaking Bad 10 days back, I was wondering how can a series score an average of 9.5 on IMDB from over 1.7 million reviews! Today when I finished the 5th and final season, I can surely say, even 9.5 feels less. Watch it guys if you haven't. It's probably the greatest Television Drama ever created. Has easily surpassed my previous favorite Sherlock.

The Detective Baptiste gives Sherlock a run for his money
27 March 2020
THE MISSING is one of those slow-burn family based thrillers, that will pull you in it's black-hole with some great acting, and an amazing script.

Add to this, the detective Baptiste, who can give the legendary Sherlock a run for his money, any day.

Crafted in such a manner, that one gets to feel the parents' emotion first-hand throughout.
