While it's possible that the beautiful cinematography may have influenced my 8 rating, the film definitely stuck with me even days after watching it. Difficult to put the experience into words but the originality and uniqueness of the story really keeps you riveted. And unlike most films nowadays, it actually gives you a satisfying ending rather than leaving you questioning, "what does it all mean"?

To say this is a high school production would be a great compliment. I'm honestly shocked that such a lousy film even got made. The story was incoherent, the acting was terrible, the cinematography was quite possibly the worst I've ever seen. I'd venture to guess that these are all students that made the film, because if they are professionals, they must be the lowest quality you could possibly find. I wish I could say that it was so bad that it was good, but I can't even say that. The special effects budget was probably $10. They literally put Halloween store plastic wings on the main character at the end. SMH.

Once you begin watching this film, it's hard to turn away. Documents the atrocities that evil North Korea commits against his own citizens. Haunting and sad, something that you must see, because it exists today and nothing is being done to stop it.

This is below B movie crap with a big budget. You can see right through the marketing of this...

"Hey, let's get a cute, touching family to appeal to the 21 and over women demographic, some action scenes to please the over 21 males, a teenage hunk to appeal to teen girls, and cute teen girls to appeal to teenage boys.

Wait... a teenage boy who doesn't get along with his father. YES!!!!

Now let's mix in a "LOST"-like plot with DINOSAURS to appeal to little boys. We've got EVERY market here. Oh wait, what about the seniors? Oh, don't worry, we'll find some older character in the next episode to please them.

High fives all around! Great marketing!

Lousy show.

One of the worst films I have seen in the last few years.

While the story lines were good, the execution was just cheesy beyond belief. The music was oppressive. Instead of letting the film breathe, there is constant loud music blaring. Overdone, as is the acting.

I am a Karloff fan but it seems like all his acting here is done tongue in cheek, but the stories are supposed to be serious.

It very much reminds me of Tales from the crypt in tone, but not executed as well.

Everything here is very staged and overdone. Nothing feels natural. It's all forced.

So I have to give this a 1 rating.

If you want Karloff, stick with the classics. Nothing here to see...move along.

Here's one way to please the brain dead masses:

Take a few good looking oversexed teenagers with crushes on each other (typical teen drama aka Beverly Hills 90210/Dawson's Creek/etc/etc...), mix in the storyline from the 1984 film "Red Dawn", and you got yourself a moneymaker!

I squirmed in my seat when the 2 cute girls talked about cute guys as enemy soldiers came up from behind them, and... I can't even describe what happens next. It was like a cartoon. Seriously. Think Bugs Bunny bopping soldiers over the head with a carrot...Yes it was that bad.

It was a great, intelligent film in 1984 when it was called "Red Dawn". But this ripoff film insults the intelligence of anyone over the age of 12.

I sincerely think it was a film made for a pre-teen audience. Otherwise, I fear for the intelligence of the human race.

Wow. This film makes you think about your life. Have any complaints about your place in the world? Your unhappiness? Bad luck? SEE THIS FILM.

You will see how lucky you are by watching this film. What this man did was amazing, considering his terrible condition. And it is incredibly inspiring.

I was depressed and the film lifted me up to realize that things are not that bad.

When I compare my fate to his, I feel lucky, and you will too. A must see film to make you feel thankful for whatever you have.

You can not take your eyes off this film. Like a car crash, it's is horrifying yet tugs at your primal urge to view the dark side of life.

Realistic and brutal, the acting is Oscar worthy and the story magnificent.

Cinematography and editing is the best I have ever seen in a film of this type (urban, gritty, yet almost fantasy)....no, actually there was no other film of this type at the time. It is really unique and set the standard for filmmakers in the future to aspire to.

It's that good.

The relationships of the characters to each other and themselves are psychological conundrums that really fascinate and terrify at the same time.

What these people do to destroy themselves is believable, and can happen to anyone. That's what's so frightening about it.

But you really care about these people, so it sends you on a journey to be with them every step of the way, literally, through amazing camera-work you see out of their eyes and feel what they feel.

I can't say enough about this film. Top 5 of all time...at least.

I LOVED this film. While not a fan of Austin Kutcher, I really enjoyed his performance,but more than that, the story itself is superb. This film is just immersive, pulling you into a world of endless possibility. The thing is, it is partly true. We can change our future, though not by going back to the past but by changing how we live today.

There are lessons to be learned in this film. Everything we choose has consequences to our future. As I look back on my life, I see the time I wasted and wish I could go back to do something more productive with that time, rather than just partying and having fun, but well, that's another story.

A great film makes you think about your life. That's what this film does. This is a must see. Don't hesitate to watch it. It will enthrall, and entertain you and make you think about life, and how you can make it better. You'll appreciate what you have now...

A fairy tale that is moving and beautiful. Definitely a multiple time screener.

This and Nightmare before Xmas is Burton's best work. You really become involved with the characters, their alienation and "different-ness".

Even the heroine who appears to be the popular girl, has a side of her that just doesn't fit in with others.

The cinematography is beautiful, the score is emotional and the acting fantastic. Vincent price is delicious as well as the whole cast.

It's a blend of comedy and tragedy and pulls you through a wide range of emotions through the film. A real trip, and unforgettable!

IMO, The character of Edward is one of the classic characters in the history of fantasy film, alongside Willie Wonka, Oliver Twist, Mary Poppins, ET, Alice in wonderland and a few others.

One of my top ten of all time. If you haven't seen it, I promise you, if you have a heart, it will touch you.
