The Du Pont Story (1950)
Lovely Technicolor film
Eduard Franz as Elutheire Irenee du Pont de Namours is the first excellent move that the filmmakers made on this project. I have always found his acting to be a comfort. Eduard Franz has a quiet stoicism and presence that he brings to all of his parts. The entire cast is just right. The costumes and sets are most excellent. The du Pont Story is a historical drama complete with some some narration in parts. At the beginning of this film that was made in 1950, it showed the modern day du Pont nylon plants et cetera. I really enjoy historical dramas with intelligence and a determination to give you a story about the past. This film has a nice subtle technicolor that I find appropriate. You won't see anyone taking off their clothing or loud obnoxious music. There will be no cursing God or Jesus. There won't be any smart aleck children or teenagers pouting and telling the grown ups how to eat their cabbage.Check this marvel of a film out.
The Ghost Ship (1943)
Val Lewton's Masterpiece with Richard Dix and Skelton Knaggs
The Ghost Ship is Val Lewton's masterpiece with a cast that you would not find today.Richard Dix as the unhinged captain had me scared. You could feel the buildup in his ever increasing rage and paranoia. The scary part is that it was not overt, but covert.Mr.Skelton Knaggs as the mute Finn is the character that I liked the best.Skelton has a physical presence that resembles a skulking panther. He has a penetrating gaze that oozes mystery.I do not want to give the plot away,so I will skirt around the edges. The Ghost Ship is a wonderful suspense thriller that to me is up there with Gaslight with Charles Boyer, and the Picture of Dorian Gray with Hurd Hatfield. The Ghost Ship is an underrated unknown delicious treat for lovers of the so called B movie. The Ghost Ship is anything but a B picture.Richard Dix was fun as the Whistler, but he is downright masterful in this picture, and so is Skelton Knaggs.Take a chance and give yourself an excursion into Val Lewton's The Ghost Ship.
On Native Soil (2006)
A Sad hit piece by leftists
I gave this so called documentary four stars instead of one star because it was well put together and had some beautiful location shots and scenery. That said, that was the only good thing about this hit piece by leftist Hollywood actors and Linda Ellman.Does this nonsense never end?Why must the leftists from Hollywood and the Pravda lying media continually blame George bush and his administration only, there is plenty of blame to go around. The Clintons had their chances to eliminate Osama Bin Laden and they refused to give the orders to kill him when they had the chance to do so.Remember when Sandy Berger got caught stuffing papers from the National Archives into his pants etc? He was doing the bidding of his bosses the Clinton two for one team.He was getting rid of the evidence that the president Bill Clinton refused to give the orders to take into custody and shoot Osama Bin Laden in the Sudan and in Afghanistan on two different dates. If Bill Clinton had showed some courage we probably would not have had that horrible day in 2001.The Bush administration had their time to stop the attacks also. There were warnings that they did not heed.I being a conservative have the decency to call out the Clintons and the Bush administration.Go ahead and watch this and believe that Hillary Swank and Kevin Costner know what they are talking about. No they do not. They are just doing what Hollywood actors always do.They speak for the left exclusively.Linda Ellman is your typical Michael Moore type film maker.Too bad for an opportunity that was missed to tell the entire truth.
