There is nothing wrong with the welders themselves, they all seem like awesome and skilled people. But the format of the show and the judges just aren't working.
First, why is the host such a jerk? I swear he only says negative or back handed things, it's not cool, and I don't like his tone. The judges are apparently people who know what they're talking about, but their takes on the work seems to lack any depth.
The formatting and instructions obviously did not work for the participants, as two of them misunderstood the instructions (Don't know why you would have them source and design at home. Design, maybe, but why make them source their own metal? At their own cost?? Provide them with materials.) and almost every contestant felt insecure about how much time they had. Also why would a judge tell a contestant that hasn't even begun to compete yet that they are disappointed in them for misunderstanding unclear instruction?
I feel like CNC and hand cutting shouldn't be mixed like that, doesn't sit right with me. Just have hand fabricators.
Overall the entire tone of the show just feels awkward and unprofessional, the filming quality does not make up for that uncomfortable vibe. Blown Away is a much more comfortable show if you're looking for a show centered around art and fabrication in a niche craft.
