A Good Person (2023)
3/10
Florence Pugh is this film's saving grace
13 April 2023
I was a bit hesitant to see this film. I was aware of its bad reviews, but I wanted to check it out for Florence Pugh's performance. I've seen Garden State and Wish I Was Here, and I wasn't a big fan of either film. I love Zach Braff, but I think he's a bad director, A Good Person doesn't change my opinion on that.

For the plot, it stretched out too long. There was no need to make it just over 2 hours. An hour and a half would be better. I also didn't particularly care about the characters. I've been scratching my head over the after effects of a certain teen character's actions. It makes no sense to me.

Florence Pugh is the only good thing about the film. If a different actor was cast as Allison, the much needed talent wouldn't have worked. Morgan Freeman was ok. I wasn't wowed by his performance. And everybody else was average at best.

To sum it up, this film may be a waste of time for you.

Chip 'n Dale missed the mark
20 May 2022
There'll be many people who will enjoy all the meta jokes and many references, but it got real tiresome real quick for me. By the second half of the film, I was getting bored. The animation could've been better, script could've been better, the film itself could've been better.

Like I said, lots of people will like this movie. I'm just amongst those who didn't. *Shrugs*

Well, this was a piece of crap
23 April 2022
5 writers and 16 producers worked on this short. This was nearly as bad as the Lisa Goes Gaga episode. Not funny and pretty uninteresting. I would've preferred to watch paint dry over this.

Spencer (2021)
10/10
One of the best movies I've seen this year
5 November 2021
First of all, I'm someone who's not interested in the Royals, but Spencer really caught my eye.

Spencer is a great movie. Kristen Stewart gives a career-best performance as Diana. Looking at her, I never would've thought that was Kristen. She embodied Diana so well.

Direction was pretty good. Supporting performances were good, as well. Cinematography was great. Set design/costumes were beautiful. The score was well done. And the dogs were adorable.

If you liked Jackie, you'll for sure like Spencer. I recommend it.

The Bear (1988)

Not as good as I remembered
4 June 2021
This was one of my childhood movies. I used to love this movie. I recently re-visited The Bear, and I actually liked it less. Don't get me wrong, the cinematography is fantastic, and the animal acting is great, but the story was very meh, and I didn't care a lot about the human characters. It's worth a rent, but definitely not a purchase.

Music (I) (2021)
1/10
One of the most offensive movies I've ever watched!
17 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I am autistic. When I first heard about this movie, I was beyond pissed. I didn't understand why Sia could've hired an actual autistic person instead of Maddie. I had the displeasure of watching Music today, and it definitely was as terrible as I thought it would be. There is nothing redeeming of Maddie's performance. Everything she did made me feel beyond disappointed. This is as stereotypical as it gets. But I read that Maddie was uncomfortable when she was acting, so I don't put all the blame on her. The music sequences are not appropriate for all viewers. Pretty much all the songs have flashing lights and/or fast cuts. Definitely don't watch these scenes if you're have high sensitivity. SPOILERS AHEAD!

This following scene is something I'm particularly upset about. There was a released scene where Kate Hudson's character restrains Music, as she has a meltdown, by laying on top of her. This is a very dangerous action, as autistic people have actually died from this. Sia "promised" that she would remove the scene entirely, or add a warning before the scene. She didn't do any of those things. She lied to us.

Another thing that didn't make sense, the subplot with that Asian guy. Yeah, he cares for Music and stuff, but why show us his home life? Why show us his father issues? It doesn't add up, since he ends up dying anyway.

PLEASE, PLEASE, DO NOT WATCH MUSIC. This movie should never have been released. And it definitely should not have been nominated for best picture at the Golden Globes. Please take my review under consideration if you want to watch this movie.

A fantastic film
13 February 2021
Minari is a powerful, heartfelt film that was beautifully written and directed by Lee Isaac Chung. Great performances all around, too. Everyone should see this film. I can't recommend it enough.

Beautiful and very eye-opening
23 January 2021
I've heard that this film was among the best of 2020. When I read the plot, I was immediately intrigued. After watching Sound of Metal, it exceeded my expectations. There aren't many movies out there that show what life is like for deaf or hard of hearing people. And I feel like this movie really nails that. A+ acting from Riz Ahmed. The sound production is incredible as well. I really, really hope SoM will become a big contender when awards season starts!

Soul (2020)
10/10
Life-affirming masterpiece
27 December 2020
I just watched Soul with my parents and sister. We were all blown away with how good this movie was. I expected it to be a deep movie, but it was much deeper. I don't think I've seen such a life-affirming movie since 127 Hours, where it reminds you to not take your life for granted. And to really hold on to it, and cherish the memories you make with the people you love. When the credits were playing, I was breaking down and telling everyone in the room that I really love everybody that's in my life. I try to remind those messages to myself when I can. The animation was one of the best I've seen in a Pixar movie, the music was great, and Jamie Fox and Tina Fey give excellent performances. If there's a perfect movie we need in 2020, Soul is it.

The Pack (2020)

An ok show, but way too stylized for a reality show
6 December 2020
It's basically The Amazing Race, but with dogs. Sure, the dogs are cute, and you like some of the owners, but the show is mostly meh. The one thing I absolutely could not stand was the excessive use of slow mo shots. There must've been over 10 slow mo shots per episode. I wouldn't be disappointed if this is the only season.

Freaky (2020)

Very entertaining, but could be better
14 November 2020
Negatives first. I personally thought the movie was lagging at times. I felt like there were times where I was getting a little bored. Besides that, I really enjoyed Freaky. It was hilarious, at times, scary, and surprisingly heartfelt. If there's one reason you should see this movie, it's definitely Vince Vaughn. He gives a great performance. I never would've thought I'd ever see him act like a teen girl, but here we are. 7/10

Good job making limb disabilities scary!
2 November 2020
How dare you do this for the purpose of making the witches scarier. How would kids with these disabilities feel if they saw how their conditions were portrayed in this way because of this movie? Shameful. Shameful, shameful, shameful.

As a fan of the series, I was disappointed.
9 March 2020
I LOVE Impractical Jokers. It is my favorite show. I was very excited to finally see the movie after discovering it was being made last year. Unfortunately, I was left feeling more disappointed than satisfied. What didn't I like about it? Mainly, the whole storyline/plot. I thought it was very unnecessary. I would've been much happier if the movie was about the same as the show. They should've had some challenges that wouldn't be suitable for tv. The only reason why I'm not giving it a 1 is because the challenges they did were decent. I had some solid laughs.

One of the best films I've seen this year. Everything was excellent, from the cinematography to the performances. The ending will definitely take you by surprise. Be prepared to be left disturbed and enthralled!

This could've been MUCH better than how it actually turned out. Queen Latifah was great as Ursula, though.

I freaking love this movie *both cuts*
1 September 2019
I first saw this film when it came out in July, and I loved it. It was visually beautiful and very profound. I just came back from seeing the director's cut. IMO, it wasn't better as the theatrical cut, but it was just as good. Both versions are fantastic. No matter which cut you see, you'll like this movie. Just as long as you're good with gore, you're ok with WTF like scenes, and you're an Ari Aster fan.

It was fine
9 August 2019
I've read/heard lots of critical acclaim for this film. Plus, it's from A24. And you can never go wrong with A24! But unfortunately, it wasn't as good as others have said. The acting is the film's high point. I do recommend it, but don't expect a big masterpiece of a film.

A movie experience I will never forget
16 September 2017
Wow. What a movie. When I saw mother! on Thursday night, I felt like a changed woman when I left the theater. First of all, the performances were amazing, Jennifer Lawrence's in particular. Second, Darren Aronofsky's writing and direction is fantastic. And third, the cinematography is great. There aren't many movies that made me feel as uncomfortable and made me think as much as this one did. It's not for everyone, but I think it's an awesome movie.

127 Hours (2010)

This movie saved me.
24 September 2016
There aren't enough words to describe how special 127 Hours is to me. It has saved me from depression and suicidal thoughts. Aron's story is amazing, and so is this movie. Everything about it is great. James Franco's performance in particular, steals the show. It's amazing how perfect he was. His range of emotions he portrayed are spectacular. There wasn't one bit where his performance was not believable. Danny Boyle's direction is excellent too. To me, no other could've pulled off this movie as good as he did. A.R. Rahman's score is perfect for this movie as well. I can literally go on and on about how good 127 Hours is.

If there's one movie I'd recommend you to see, it's this one. I'm forever grateful I came across this movie. It's so powerful and inspiring.
