Silo (2023)
If you stopped at episode 6 you've done yourself a disservice
After watching most of season 1 of "Silo," I must say, it's a thrilling show that had me hooked from the very beginning.
The pacing of the show is generally well done, with each episode building upon the previous one to create a sense of mounting tension. However, I did notice a slight slowdown in episodes 5 and 6, where the plot seemed to lose a bit of its momentum. Thankfully, the pace picked right back up in episodes 7, 8, and 9, and they were truly outstanding that left me eagerly anticipating the next installment.
I was thrilled to learn that "Silo" has been renewed for a second season. I'm particularly excited about the finale and hoping that the creators can deliver an unforgettable conclusion that lives up to the high expectations they've set.
Overall, "Silo" is an enthralling show that kept me captivated with its intriguing premise and well-crafted narrative. While it had a slight slowdown in episodes 5 and 6, the subsequent episodes more than made up for it. With the announcement of a second season, I can't wait to see how "Silo" continues to captivate and surprise me.
The Mandalorian: Chapter 19: The Convert (2023)
Skipping the middle bit makes it watchable.
The beginning and the end of the this episode are OK and definitely what I would expect to see watching something titled the Mandalorian. I found that if you just fast forward when they jump to Hyperspace to the point when they jump out, this episode is watchable. I tried giving that stuff in the middle a few minutes and I was bored to death. It has nothing to do with the lack of action either because I rather enjoyed Andor. More the fact that both the characters & writing are completely uninteresting. Unfortunately, I feel like this season is taking a turn for the worse and it's almost as bad as Book of Boba Fett. Hopefully they find some footing with the show and don't continue to beat a dead horse just to sell Grogu merchandise.
Utopia: Just a Fanboy (2020)
Poor choice of direction stopped the show dead.
Why? After the first episode I thought I found a new show I was going to love. Why are you trying to make your audience hate Jessica Hide? I literally turned the show off two minutes into the third episode because of this garbage. You had plenty of shock value before doing that and it doesn't make sense.
Westworld (2016)
An Important line of Questioning about AI
Spoilers!!
So was season 3 perfect? No, but it was great and I enjoyed its progression on the themes of the story since the beginning. The writers have stayed true to exploring these every season where we as an audience get new information and have to revaluate our thinking. This time we learn that all of humanity is enslaved and everyone is put into a "loop" of their own without any knowledge by an almost all knowing AI. It brings up many Interesting moral dilemmas about free will vs societal safety. The rights of the collective NWO vs the Inalienable individual rights. What is the point of living if you are not in control of your choices? These are all extremely relevant in our time as we get closer to more complex AI. It's also relevant with the current epidemic as we ask ourselves when does a government (Or Company) go to far? Where is the line? We also see, when you compare Dolores Dolores versus Hail Dolores, how experiences truly shape who we are and that genetics (or Code) are not everything. These are extremely important topics about AI we have to start talking about now. I really enjoy how Season 3 and season 1 parallel each other as they both end on a great awakening. The first season being the hosts, The 3rd season being humanity. In both seasons this causes major violence as they say everything has to be torn down before we can truly be free. Which as we can see from our history that time and time again we rise to the call of the Revolution when faced with with tyranny and injustice. This is also why they had to keep this whole project hidden, because you won't revolt something you don't know it's happening. This then leads to questions about the surveillance state and how tech companies will join or even take over government. I believe this was Ford's plain all along. I think Ford saw that humanity was stuck in a prison that they didn't even know existed. Hosts and Humanity shared the same problem and he knew that we needed them as much as they would need us. I did like the season overall i'm very interested to see where this goes.
