The Story of God with Morgan Freeman (2016)
A smart take on "FAITH OF GOD"
As not a very adherent strict-practicing Hindu, my interest was to know the fundamental evolution of the concept of God along with the evolution of humanity. The series brilliantly takes into considerations the various belief system followed by various religions on the planet. It was very interesting to see the inclusion of the beliefs of natives in various episodes. The series questions various fundamental questions an educated mind can think about. Obviously the series are not for the shut minded believers and may be offensive to them at one or other point, but for a cosmopolitan human being the series really throw light on the very existence of various Human faiths. Kudos for all associated with the series.
Masaan (2015)
A heart wrenching love story set in actual India...
Apart from the usual escapist romantic cinema of Bollywood, I found "Masaan" a truly honest love story set in "actual" India showing all the hypocrisy of India and also the healing "going on" attitude of the society which is essential for the evolution of any society and the truth of Human life. The two love stories, though set apart, reveal the various layers of hypocrisy in Indian society and where one story starts with death of love one the other ends with death, the eternal truth. In the end the positive going on attitude releases the agony built in the plot. The movie is a true representation of today's Indian cinema.
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984)
Pathetic movie by such a genius.....
I was a shock to see this movie from a genius like "Steven Spielberg". It seems to me that this movie was ghost directed by him. It is even worse by films made by Bollywood horror filmmakers Ramsey brothers. Steven not even bothered to check the authenticity of what he was showing, the food (where in India these things are eaten...?), The depiction of Kaali who is largely worshiped by Hindus as destroyer goddess principally of evil forces (from where the art department get the idea to show kaali as orks)and the ever screaming female lead. Till the end I didn't get what was the reason to make such a pathetic movie by a Hollywood team. Only due to this film I now think differently of Steven Spielberg...
Pink (2016)
A very important movie for Indian society, but ultimately remains relevant to urban tier 1 city movie buffs
The movie has been very much successfully address the paradigm of Indian society about general thinking of Indian males for female sexuality.... but... Alas, it will remain a favorite among educated movie goers of tier 1 cities and as the seat occupancy suggests it make disturbed the general movie goers in tier 2 and 3 city where girls are till now treated according to their clothes etc. The actors, especially Amitabh is at his best while the newcomers delivered brilliantly. Taapsi Pannu is undoubtedly brilliant. The convincing portrayal of the characters and the environment makes the film outstanding which is rare in Indian cinema, addicted to dancing and fighting characters..
